So happy I have Trupanion!
I adopted Sophie. A 5 yr old toy yorkie 5 months ago. She was used for breeding. She is a wonderful little dog, but we had to use Trupanion insurance twice already. I purchased the trupanion not for everyday visits, but for the emergencies. My old dog, Ricky, who died several years ago suddenly had a bad heart, and the bills cost me $10,000. Can't afford that again! I go to a VCA animal hospital who has direct payment with trupanion, so I never need to fill out paperwork, which I love. I also don't have to wait, as I'm checking out, they submit the bill to Trupanion, and I only pay the difference. I love VCA as they are open 24-7, and they have all the specialists I could need. Trupanion had already saved me over $1,000. If you have a dog, you need insurance for those "Oh my God" moments! I would choose Trupanion again!

The Embrace policy is a total waste of…
The Embrace policy is a total waste of money. They pay for very little or nothing at all and always have some reason for not paying. Our dog ate a stick but we were told accidents are not covered and would not be reimburse. Since when is a dog eating a stick an accident? On another occasion he jumped out of the car and sprained his shoulder. They classified it as a pre-existing condition and would not cover it. How is a sprained shoulder a preexisting condition? We will not be renewing after this policy expires.

It was quick and easy to get my babies their health insurance. Very affordable. I’m still waiting for my insurance card for them and I don’t know if I even get one, but I’m sure if I give my name and say what insurance it should come up in the system.

Trupanion lived up to its excellent reputation. Although I've had dogs for 40 years, I had never purchased pet insurance before. Shortly after I signed up with Trupanion, my dog had a major and very expensive health problem. My claim was honest, and Trupanion honoured it.

Great staff, slow reimbursement
No issues with covering medical costs, but reimbursement is always slow. I’ve rarely had one reimbursed within 15 business days and I’ve been submitting weekly invoices for three months now. Currently have over $2500 waiting for reimbursement (two over 15 business days) and they still just say reviewed. Quicker claims reimbursement would be fantastic as the people are great to deal with!
