So grateful for pet insurance & Trupanion made it easy
After an unexpected pet emergency that took place while on vacation and resulted in several emergency room visits, late nights, surgery, infection, and worry, the lack of sleep and bills started piling up. Like most pet lovers, we'll do anything to help our fur babies, but having great pet insurance and a policy through Trupanion to help offset the financial burden provides much-needed peace of mind, giving us one less thing to worry about so we can focus on our girl's health.

Signup was simple and fast
Signup was simple and fast. Our only glitch occurred because Ragamuffin breed was not on your list of cat breeds but a very helpful young woman at the phone reception in Atlanta assured us that the nearest similar breed, Ragdoll, would work to classify our application. We travel between 3 homes with our cats. All three states are on your eligibility list. The value of coverage per dollar was unbeatable.

Be aware. Your claims process will not be an easy one
Not happy at all with my experience with this company. I have worked with insurance companies in the past, and I have never had an experience like this where the claims agent was doing everything possible NOT to honour the claim. After a “system error” we had to follow up with an appeal to have my deductible removed from a second claim for additional testing for a foreign body. Once they got their hands on the vet notes they found every reason under the sun to try to deny the claim. Finally after three calls from my vet they finally pushed through the claim and I got 50% of my bill back. Their managers basically gaslight you when you get on the phone with them, saying how wonderful trupanion is in response to your complaint. It’s incredibly invalidating. A lot of their marketing is misleading. There’s so many loopholes they’ve created to deny a claim. Basically if your dog has had anything ever - it could be called a pre-existing condition and your claim would be denied. If you choose to use this company do so with a low expectation and don’t pay high premiums bc it’s not worth it and use it with the expectation that illnesses most likely will not be covered and for accidents only (even then - I wouldn’t be surprised if they a prexisiting condition caused the accident) They extort people for their care for their animal companions like a wolf in sheeps clothing. If you have a complaint it goes NOWHERE. They are there to make money plain and simple under the guise of care. Reporting to the BBB.

Easy to work with So far customer service has been phenomenal. Hopefully I won't have to test out the claims process often and if I do, the service for any claims submitted will be equally good.

Have had a relationship with Trupanion over 12 years with our two dogs Pepper and Prince. Pepper was diagnosed with a heart murmur condition years ago. Our insurance coverage has protected us greatly over the years as there have been numerous episodes where Dr. visits and ER visits have taken place. Trupanion has always been "our companions" in navigating needed healthcare issues for our pets.

No Hassle Experience
Unfortunately, we had to discover Embrace’s stellar service through our Silky Terrier being mauled by a pit bull. Embrace made a traumatic situation much less taxing through their swift and efficient response to settling our claims. We were very impressed with their professionalism and empathy shown throughout the process. I strongly recommend them for all pet insurance needs.

A Fair and Square, reachable and honest company for Pet Insurance.
A fair and helpful company. Honest. You have to pay the vet up front and they reimburse you in about 30-90 days. You can just give the card with other companies to the vet who accepts it as payment. But in exchange for this, which is made very clear, you get a lot of regular care services paid for quickly. Shots, checkups, health checks, nail trimming ( a limited amount-see their list), and that is paid from Pumpkin quickly. Major problems have to be paid for by the Insurance company that underwrites serious care. The Present value yearly regular treatment is far higher than other emergency care which happens but more rarely. Especially as it likely prevents serious problems later. Still, If Pumpkin offered both groups of payment, giving an insurance card to the vet (Direct bill) AND [preventative care, I would be willing to pay 2-3X for the insurance. A dark recession is coming so it might be wise to offer this method as a choice so customers don't flee a growing company. It can be 2K per night for serious problems.I lost a pretty cat but I wouldn't have spent 10K on a low probability fix anyway. Pumpkin is a square deal and always reachable.
