All Around Great Service to Pet Owners

We compared several pet insurance companies with regard to services offered, procedures, website, coverage and personal phone conversations with employees. Trupanion was purchased within a week of our puppy adoption three years ago. Although I had all the paid invoices, a claim had not been filed until recently. The staff was excellent in helping straighten out the invoices, contacting the veterinarian and making the claim. I will never wait that long between claim submission claims again. Trixie will have Trupanion Pet Insurance forever. Thank you for protecting my “baby.”

Just purchased Insurance for the fur babies

Just purchased Insurance for both my cats and my father's dog. Haven't used it yet but it was easy enough to purchase and the price was right.

This company doesn't follow their own terms & conditions.

I purchased Embrace policies for my two cats, one of whom had eye damage from an infection as a baby, before I adopted her. I was of course aware of this condition and understood that any complications related to the previous eye damage wouldn't be covered by Embrace. Then my cats got into a fight, and my kitten sustained a new, unrelated eye injury. She had to have an eye removed, and then had a post-surgical infection. Throughout the stressful and expensive procedures, I took comfort in the knowledge that her bills would be covered by Embrace... until Embrace rejected all my claims. Their argument is that this injury counts as a pre-existing condition, because my kitten's previous eye damage increased the RISK of complication in the case of another unrelated injury. This is based of their own assessments, not the opinion of the vet who actually saw my pet. But even more concerning is that this criteria does NOT appear in the policy. In Embrace's own Policy Terms & Conditions, a pre-existing condition is defined: "Pre-existing Condition(s) means: a. A Chronic Condition observed by you or your Veterinary Provider prior to the end of the Waiting Period for your Pet(s) and any related conditions; or b. An Illness or Injury that first occurred or showed Clinical Signs prior to the end of the Waiting Period for your Pet and any related conditions. c. Undiagnosed conditions with the same Clinical Signs as those in a. or b. above are also considered preexisting." This definition does NOT extend to any future, unrelated, new injuries where a pre-existing condition could have elevated risk factor or made a pet pre-disposed to future complications. It's simply not in the policy. I have attempted to get clarity from Embrace representatives about what criteria they used in their denial of my claims, what future claims might be denied on these grounds, or to point me to where the policy mentions complication risk factor as determining a preexisting condition. The adjuster I spoke to, Taylor, insisted that she is unable to answer any of my questions. I'm in the process of filing a second appeal, which will involve getting ahold of the ER doctor who saw my cat, since a letter from my regular vet who knows my pet best was not sufficient for Embrace.

So far, so good.

The prices seem pretty reasonable for the options I selected. They responded quickly to my questions, via email. I have not yet submitted any kind of claim, so I don't know how that will go if and when I do. I feel optimistic about them.
