The best!
Healthy Paws is the best! During a recent bout of IBD the medical bills for my Husky/Shepherd mix racked up quickly. Healthy Paws paid their fair share quickly with no hassles at all. In fact, after about the fourth check they wrote and asked how he was doing just to make sure he was ok. Now that's good service! At this point I'm sure they've paid me more in reimbursements than I paid them in premiums, but they've never complained. (Oh, and they did the same thing for my last dog...a 14 year old GSD with multiple health issues). I wish my own health insurance were this good.

Could be much better
Premiums are high, which would be fine if there were 100% reimbursement rather than 90%. Also, reimbursements take far too long to process.

Good company BUT claims take FOREVER to proces
Good company but I stopped recommending to other pet owners becasue the claims take forever to process. I wrote this on one review and an employee responded basically saying tough stuff we are backed up; so not sure this review will actually be passed on to the appropriate people.

Figo Pet Insurance - comes through
Our dog was involved in a car accident. Spent 5 days in a hospital with significant associated costs. As per our policy with Figo after uploading necessary documents Figo paid their proportion of the costs quickly and without any undue hassle or stress. Pet associated medical care is as sophisticated (and costly) as humans now. The procedures involved saved out pet's life and we had peace of mind of not having to deal with an extravagant bill.

Typical Insurance provider - stay away or you wont get paid!
I've had Fetch Pet Insurance since we got our dog at 3 months. She has been enrolled and has not presented any problems since we got her other than a stomach issue. All documents have been submitted to Fetch on time since we got out policy. Last month she started biting her paws and the vet has advised us that she could be presenting allergies. Fetch has started requesting a significant amount of documents (which they already have) and keep delaying the review of our claim. Unfortunately, it looks like they are looking for the needle in the haystack to avoid covering this problem. It's very unfortunate to deal with companies that are fully focused on making sure you pay your premiums on time but that delay paying out your claims and do provide a clear explanation of why they would need a significant amount of non-related documentation and tests (even from our vet's point of view - "they are requesting non-related / non-sense information from your pet. Think about switching to other insurance"). I would be switching from Fetch to other providers that are more transparent in the claim process. UPDATE: after requiring additional documentation that wasnt linked to the claim, they have partially approved the claim. However, as mentioned before - interesting enough they have requested medical records for the last 2 years for a dog that has always been insured with them and that has never presented issues. While discussing with the vet, the example I was given by the vet is “well, it’s like requesting a person’s medical records for the past years just to see if the person is actually allergic to something. Shouldn’t be the case. Instead, they should run tests on the person to ensure s/he isnt allergic.”

Emergency abscess on our dog
Our dog suddenly developed an abscess under her eye. We were out of town but managed to find a vet to see her that day. A broken tooth was diagnosed and surgery set for the next day. One week later Trupanion has settled the claim with a direct deposit into my bank account. It was stressful dealing with the medical issues so I really appreciated not fighting with insurance company on top. Thanks Trupanion

ACL issues on one leg make the other pre-existing
Our dog who is under six had an ACL repaired in one leg. A year later she needed work on the other leg which has never had issues. Healthy Paws has this exception so they don't have to cover it buried in their FAQ where one leg that is fine is already considered pre-existing. When we submitted paperwork all they did was close the case with no note on what has happened. MSPCA Angel in Boston told us this is the most common injury with dogs yet there was no effort to cover this or try to make it work with our premiums. We are outraged for this kind of poor coverage.
