Shock Prevention
We were shocked to find out how much my dog’s heart tests and medications would cost. But 3 days after the testing, I received my reimbursement from Healthy Paws. And to top that off, they sent an email asking how he was doing. This was much better service than I got from the policy held for my prior dogs.

So far it’s been a headache
So far it’s been a headache. Always read the fine print. I’ll take responsibility for only reading “immediate coverage” in the big letters. I was 3 hours shy of the next day requirement for immediate coverage. Also… the life time deductible does not apply to accident claims. I received conflicting answers from different representatives. Finally spoke with a manager named Ronny. She was not concerned with addressing the poor customer service. She had not made effort to be prepared to assist. Thankfully I initiated back up insurance with another company. When I told her I was still trying to decide, she felt the need to remind me that pre existing conditions wouldn’t be covered by any insurance company. Gave an example of her 9 year old boxer. I advised that I have a 15 week puppy who has not been seen by a vet for anything but a well check. She then randomly started asking unrelated questions. According to her, they had issues with my vet giving them access to records. I advised that my vet contacted me weeks ago and I gave permission. I asked why no one from trupanion had reached out to me. She said a ticket was put in for someone to contact me. No wonder she tried to scare me with pre existing condition clauses. She had no idea what my dog’s history was. She was just there to deflect and make excuses. I’m sure the company might be great overall. But some of the employees do not have it together. It has rubbed be the wrong way. Not worth the hassle.
