Thank goodness I have Trupanion for my dog!!
I am very happy I have Trupanion Pet Insurance, and have always had excellent customer service. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My girl Zoe has a few issues and having this insurance has helped us tremendously!

Don’t get a pet without Trupanion on your side
I will start off like some other pet owners by saying that I didn’t have insurance for the first dog I owned and quickly regretted that after my poor baby somehow ingested a sewing needle. The needle had made its way through his intestines and poked holes in his spleen and it was on its way into his liver which required him to have immediate emergency surgery. I was stressing and working to get approved for a loan in order to pay for the bill of over $4,000. I was so worried. That was the day I started to look into pet insurance for both my dog and cat and quickly chose Trupanion based on their coverage and their amazing customer service members who explained how everything would work. They completely put me at ease. My cat passed 6 years ago and I was devastated. Trupanion was so compassionate when I contacted them to have her removed from the insurance. I received a handwritten card in the mail not long after with their condolences. Very touching and I felt it came from such a genuine place. I haven’t needed to use my insurance much until recently when my doggie was diagnosed with arthritis in his lower back. They have made it easy and it saves me so much money. I know that he will be fine if he ever needs more intervention. I am so grateful for other people who share their love of animals and are there to help when our pets needs it.

Happy to have switched
My previous insurance company kept increasing our rates for no reason. And not just by a little bit ($500 or more each year). I decided to shop around and went with sonnet. I'm paying less than what I was with the previous company for a premium plan. Just rolled over since being with sonnet a year and the rates went down. Was a little time consuming to set up initially just having to get all the info but once it was done I was able to print proof of insurance right away. I haven't had to make a claim or any changes so I can't speak to those processes but so far I am happy with my decision to switch.

My dog needed surgery, and I panicked thinking about dealing with insurance for her. I was very happy with everything, from submitting the claims to the resolution. Everyone I interacted with was super helpful and polite, and the claims were processed quickly. It was all so quick and easy.. I'm happy to have this insurance for her.

They Raise Their Rates over 20% per Year
• I purchased a policy the day that I brought home my puppy and had a monthly premium of $35/mo. • Year 2, they send me an email that my rate for the next year will now be $57/mo • Year 3, they raised my rate to $73/mo. My dog has allergies now, so if I switch insurance, my dog will not be covered for any pre-existing conditions, even though I have had insurance since day 1. They never mentioned that rates can go up over 20-60%% per year when I signed up - seems like something that would have been important to know, except when it is not good for their business. Protect yourself and your pup from their predatory practice and choose another provider and make sure to ask rate increase questions
