Terrible
Terrible. They lie to you about what’s covered and pick and choose when they want to reimburse you for things. I have a plan that includes routine wellness but a routine teeth cleaning apparently isn’t covered even though I’ve gotten partially reimbursed for teeth cleanings in the past. I understand if an extraction isn’t covered but how is NOTHING from the whole teeth cleaning covered at all? Their answer for anything not covered is that it’s a preexisting condition. So my vet recommends a yearly teeth cleaning when my dog has mild tartar buildup, so I get his teeth cleaned but no it’s not covered because he has periodontal disease? Well why was I reimbursed for a dental in the past? Just not consistent and feels like a scam. The only reason I have this insurance is that I was led to believe it covers instances like this. Apparently it doesn’t. Honestly it’s cheaper to just pay out of pocket and not have insurance at all at this point.

Nothing went wrong with the initial application for service, the webforms were straight forward and seemingly effective in submitting my information for review; but its diabolical to ask about an experience prior the policy being enacted. In other words, its too early to tell.

We are so grateful we had purchased this insurance. The ease of having it billed directly from the vet was so helpful during a critical surgery for our 6 month old puppy. The coverage put our minds at ease so we could concentrate on him.

60% increase in cost because I used it? Didnt cover everything when my husky had knee surgery last year. Would be better saving the money monthly and just paying myself.

Will NEVER Recommend Healthy Paws Again
I am absolutely disgusted by Healthy Paws’ recent policy changes for pets over 7 years old. After being a loyal customer for more than 10 years, I never expected the company to effectively reduce coverage just when senior pets are most likely to need it. Healthy Paws has downgraded reimbursement rates and more than doubled deductibles for older pets, leaving long-time customers with significantly worse coverage despite years of faithfully paying premiums. Many of us purchased pet insurance specifically to protect our pets as they age, yet Healthy Paws appears to be changing the rules once pets reach the stage of life where coverage matters most. What makes this especially frustrating is that existing customers are essentially trapped. After years with the company, switching insurers often isn’t a realistic option because of pre-existing condition exclusions. Healthy Paws knows this and still chose to reduce the value of coverage for senior pets. Numerous pet owners have reported similar changes affecting pets aged 7 and older at renewal. This is a terrible way to treat customers who have supported your company for a decade or more. Loyalty clearly means nothing when corporate profits are put ahead of the people and pets who trusted you. I can no longer recommend Healthy Paws to anyone considering pet insurance. If you’re shopping for coverage, pay close attention to what can happen when your pet gets older—because that’s when you find out what kind of company you’re really dealing with.

Increases price as the number of claims increases. Check your monthly price. It changes without notification. Very disappointed. They hold you because it is hard to get a new insurance company because of existing conditions and they know it.
