Usual pet insurance annoyances, but perhaps the best of them...
After having Healthy paws for 5 years without much of a need for them, my dog began having spinal issues and IVDD surgery twice which I was billed $9k each time! The first time expensing it to Healthy Paws was a little bit of an effort since they do need the official full historical report from your vet before paying anything out. However, the second time was seamless--I had made 5 easy claims up to the point of the surgery and they quickly paid me out each time, all they need is the official invoices. Something important things to be mindful of that may result in disappointment--but I think these are the case with any pet insurance: 1. As far as I know--they do NOT COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS or VISITATION FEES. The first is a bummer, the latter can rack up without realizing it. 2. Once you make a claim, you can't change your plan, so you're either locked in, or go somewhere else that won't cover any new pre-existing conditions that occurred while covered here. Outside of these, Healthy Paws really has great customer service on the phone every time I've called, and they've paid out quite quickly and efficiently on every claim.

Our experience was poor with Embrace
Our experience was poor with Embrace. The issue is an overly broad interpretation of any symptom or complaint being used to declare any diagnosis as preexisting. Our 1 dog had been noted by a conscientious vet as being witnessed to lick her vulvar area. She later suffered a urinary tract infection many months later which was excluded from coverage. I don’t know of any dogs that don’t lick in that area so therefore UTI s and their side effects should just be excluded up front. Essentially if you have a conscientious vet you will be left uncovered for years to come. On the issues they occasionally covered they did a passing job. For the most part it is like not having insurance

Not worth the cost and uncaring
UPDATE: The company’s request that you call customer service for help with any voiced concerns is a BOGUS and generic copy/paste response. When I called the line, no one had any idea what I was talking about. My favorite thing about Pets Best is that they have a 24 hour line for medical concerns that is staffed by a vet tech. Otherwise, financially- What I have been reimbursed over the last four years has been far less than what I pay in premiums. It would be helpful if they made an effort to remind pet owners that certain exams or interventions are due at a specific time in order for any subsequent illness to be paid for (for example, you need to subject your pet to anesthetic dental cleaning starting at 3 yrs old even if their teeth are fine, because if something ends up happening afterwards then they won’t pay for it. This happened to me after my boy went from healthy teeth to plaque fast, and I was told by an agent that I now need to pay for costly dental cleaning on my own). The prescription formulary list is pretty small, medications are rarely reimbursed. You would fare better saving your monthly premium into an account to use for when you need routine pet care. Anything seriously costly after that can easily be paid back using a service like Care Credit. If you have a holistic pet store by you, their consultations are usually free with the purchase of the products to help your pet- do that replaces the vet line and comes from a healthier approach. Save your money.

Highly Recommended
I was a little worried after reading a few of the negative reviews for Pets Best, but I had no problems at all. I submitted my paid invoices for my dog's vet visit as well as his subsequent surgery and was reimbursed within a few weeks. I am so glad I decided to purchase pet insurance and definitely recommend Pets Best!
