YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK

Months of waiting for the check to arrive! Terrible customer service. They keep laying and saying I should expect the check next week and it’s been months now. Honestly never had a worse experience.

I haven't gotten any claims reviewed yet but I have to say that the claim submission experience couldn't be easier. Human health insurance should follow this example!

Premiums are ridiculous

Premiums are ridiculous — $230/month!? A 40% increase over last year!!. And a $5k yearly cap on reimbursement? I swear if I didn’t have an aging although healthy dog, I’d take my business elsewhere.

Unable to truly rate

Unable to truly rate because I've not used it yet. Was easy to sign up, but I purchased the policy for the "just in case" I may need it later for my fur baby which is getting older. I can handle the usual vaccines and check ups, but bought the policy for anything major.

Emergency vet bill while on Vac

While out in vacation I had my dog at a kennel and was informed of an issue with my dog with blood in stool and showing other symptoms similar to a colon torsion he suffered in 2018. I had the kennel take him to an emergency vet and my pup was treated. It was an unexpected bill of +$1700 but submitted claim the same day. Within 3 days I got reply and explanation of my cost after deductible and paying my % portion. Everything was quick and without issue.

Ridiculously Expensive

Trupanion raised my monthly rate from $136.67 a month to $163.62 a month within a year even though I had no claims. I was about to insure my second new dog however I will not go with Trupanion again. If you extrapolate the costs over the lifetime of my 2 pets for say 14 years it adds up to $54.976.32 in total. Trupanion has the audacity to send you a "friendly" letter to gouge you for more money playing to your emotions about your pets. They are not in business for their customers. only for their shareholders. I don't trust Trupanion at all. I will report this to the veterinarians that I know in my community.

Find Someone Else if you care about your pets

Embrace representatives pushed and pushed for me to get a ligament and joint review for my dog within the first six months of the policy. We did because it was explained as being helpful for us. The only thing noted was mild crepitus, meaning her knees pop occasionally when tested. Fast forward two years, we have never missed a payment and never had a claim outside of wellness which is a seperate policy anyway. My dog has a ruptured ACL. Since her knees mildly popped two years ago, they are refusing to even cover the initial visit which identified it, much less the surgery she now needs. They have very unethical business practices. They only care about the bottom line and not the clients or the animals.
