Very easy to submit claims
Very easy to submit claims. No hidden “small print” conditions. Great customer service. Unfortunately cost has significantly increased since my previously living dogs were enrolled. My last dog had a list of long enduring illnesses. Trupanion was great to deal with and saved me from a serious debt. If you have a sick animal, you want Trupanion.

Positive and negative experience
Enrollment was easy and that was good. I was encouraged to do so by my vet. However, both myself and my vet were disappointed in what was not to be covered based on your team's reading of her case notes (for Suzy in particular). Your decision was based on what we both considered was an overly strict and perhaps misinterpretation of our vet's exam notes (for Suzy). Our vet reached out to your staff but no change was made in your staff's conclusions. I intend to stay with your company for now. It depends on your coverage decisions in the future. Since our cats are young, we may not need to make a claim for some time to come.

They are scammers
They are scammers. I signed up to try it out took my puppy to the vet and submitted the claim after. They only reimbursed me 99 dollars out of the 135 I paid. So I then decided to cancel and go with Banfield as they cover everything under their monthly plan. Which I thought trupanion did. When I called to cancel I was informed that I had to pay back the money they had reimbursed me. Please avoid this company.

If there was a negative star
If there was a negative star, I’d give that as the rating. This company does their best to avoid paying claims. I have spent hours disputing, appealing, calling and explaining (as has my vet) that my pet did not have a pre-existing condition. Most claims thereafter have been denied or deductibles not met after 4 years of coverage due to claim submissions being ineligible. I have now submitted 20 claims since 2019 and have not received one cent in any type of reimbursement, nor have my deductibles been met as they won’t apply monies towards meeting that deductible. I pay $78 per month and will be canceling. I am infuriated with this company and will do my very best to inform future pet owners to steer clear of them. Buyer beware. They are terrible.
