Highly recommend Prudent Pet
I just insured my second dog with Prudent Pet and I highly recommend them to anyone with active dogs! My dogs are extremely active and my older dog has had a few injuries that Prudent Pet covered. Knowing that the bills will be covered gives me peace of mind to provide my boys with the best veterinary care. It was extremely easy to file a claim and the reimbursement process is pretty quick and smooth. I have been very happy with Prudent Pet and will continue insuring future dogs with them.

UPDATE: As requested, even though Healthy Paws previously paid claims for my Dog Baxter, they now wanted proof I did a vet appointment for him after I adopted him in 2016. I have sent them those records. Standing by for processing of my claims. Tag, you're it! ___ I have three pets covered by Healthy Paws (two under one account and a third under another account). I, too, am now experiencing the constant requests for vet records from SIX YEARS AGO when we adopted our boy. This is well beyond the 30 day waiting period of when we signed up for the health plan for Baxter. Regarding the medical records they have requested, I have uploaded those records and they still are sending emails that they haven't received them and I need to send them. This is for three claims (two related to an abscessed tooth, one related to palliative care for his protein losing enteropathy. Claim numbers 310878-3-18, 310878-3-19, and 310878-3-20). Sadly, it appears that this company has gone the route of just trying to wear out the client and will not cover the costs they are supposed to cover. Check out some of the newer companies, perhaps instead. This one appears to be hitting the rocks.

Site was easily navigable and quote was prompt and clear with no hidden costs/fees/exclusions. 15 day waiting period for any claim and coverage for pre-existing conditions if no previous treatment for this condition in past 18 months. Monthly cost was 1/2 my current insurance for comparable coverage.

I gave 5 stars because it was really… easy
I gave 5 stars because it was really easy to sign up for pet insurance. I had pet insurance but I had to quit my job for health reasons so I lost the pet insurance that I had with the monthly payments coming out of my paycheck.

The problem I have when I call is the recorded phone system. I cannot hear the message whatevet time I call. The same problem with a customer service person I have to ask them to speak up. I know I don't have a hearing problem. If my choice was I would never call. This is unacceptable for anyone trying to reach this service.

Hope your Vet does it all!
I hate doing this. I have had nothing but great experiences through petplan.. until now. Unfortunately, this experience is bad enough to warrant no more than 1 star. My dog needed behavioral therapy training due to some changing behavior. Our vet referred us to a behaviorist who did a wonderful job. Our plan includes behavioral coverage and specifically states "behavior therapy." When our claim was denied, I called to inquire. I was informed that "in the terms and conditions" it says that any behavioral training MUST be done by a licensed vet. In our area, there are behavioral training centers, and vets do not do any type of behavioral training, hence the referral (not sure if it's like this everywhere?). I informed them that I had a referral from the vet and that our vet does not do any behavioral training. I also informed them that it was a licensed "behavioral therapist" that performed the training. I was told there was nothing I could do or send in to get it covered due to the wording in the terms and conditions. Advertising in policy documents and coverage details that behavioral therapies are covered, but only covering them if performed by a certified vet (which is not listed in the policy documents with behavior coverage, and is ONLY in the terms and conditions) strikes me as a company that is trying to trick people into paying for services that should be covered under their plan. Shady back room jargon is not for me. I will be switching coverage. Best of luck everyone.
