The customer service team was excellent…
The customer service team was excellent and listened to my concerns. The main issues that I noted were that all the paperwork sent in by the vets was misplaced, and then I was notified that the claim was to be canceled and other notes through email. I had to contact the customer service team directly to resolve the paperwork issues and get the claim correctly processed. Otherwise, the claims process was simple, and once the issues were solved, the processing was quick and straightforward.

The claims process was very easy and reimbursement was on time. $10,000 surgery on left rear knee was reimbursed and then some for followups.

Trupanion 'used' to be great....but things have changed!
Trupanion 'used' to be great, but their customer support and service offerings have dramatically declined over the years. I have had all three of my dogs insured under Trupanion since they were puppies. Two of them since 8 weeks old and the other one at 6 months as we adopted her at that age. Our coverage with Trupanion started back in 2014. For many years Trupanion was great to work with. Supported their claims and helped us to take care of our valued pets. Over the past 4-5 years everything has tanked. They consistently deny the majority of claims we submit, claiming it was a 'pre-existing' condition....even when our dog had never displayed any sort of occurrence of a condition in the past. I am the first to understand that rules are there for a reason but in too many cases, they have made their own 'rules'. They went so far as to deny the claim when our vet wrote several personal letters disputing their claims. One example was my bulldog had an ear infection. They stated that because bulldogs commonly have allergies it would not be covered. This was after being a member with 3 pets for over 9 years for EACH pet. This is only one of the many issues I've had. Sadly because my pets are getting older I am forced to keep them on the insurance as once you take them off then, God forbid something really bad happened, there woudl be no coverage. I can tell you that I will never use Trupanion again for any of my new pets that I will have in my life. They care more about their bottom line of making money than about honest and trustworthy service offerings. Do you research and check out other pet insurance options first.
