Scammer
(In Canada) Fetch by the Dodo (previously known as Petplan) is an unethical, untrustworthy and horrible company. For someone who is planning to enroll pet insurance, it’s better to avoid this company. I enrolled the pet insurance for my dog aged 3 months in 2021. At that moment, there was no medical check up report request but I was asked for it when I submitted a claim after 4 months because my dog got diarrhea. I felt upset and frustrated as there was no point to get a medical check up report after a vet visit with spending additional $200 for claiming $150. The most ridiculous point was that a medical report was not required when the pet insurance was enrolled. But you will be asked for it when you make a claim” That was totally unacceptable. They just don’t want to give you a claim !!!!! I received the announcement from Petplan by an email about they exited Canada business. This was a release to me as I do not have to deal with this company anymore. However, they took my card info and debited the annual fee again and refused to refund. I have never authorized Fetch by the Dodo to make a payment from my card after 2021. I called the customer service for a negotiation. Of course, they refused to refund. They have never provided a proper service to their customers but keep stealing the money from their pocket. Recently, I found out that there were a lot bad comments about this company. I write this as I wish no more pet owners will be another victim. As a pet owner, I just want to get a protection to my dog but I am kinda getting in a scam.

Great insurance company
I Purchased a policy from Trupanion and 6 weeks later my cat became very ill and required surgery. He was hospitalized for 8 days and the bills were very expensive. After paying the bill and bringing him home I proceeded to file a claim. Which by the way was very easy. Trupanion requested all of his records from the hospital and proceeded to approve my claim for the exact amount I was expecting. Thank you Trupanion for your courteous representatives, and the speed in which you processed my claim. I intent to tell all of my pat lovers about your service.

Significant decline in service over time
I have had healthy paws since 2017. It used to be quick and easy to submit claims via the app and get reimbursed when I first got insurance for my 2 cats. In the past few years, I have had progressive difficulty in getting claims processed. Specific issues: 1) You can only have 3 pets per email account. I have 4 pets, so couldn't get my fourth pet added to the same account. 2) Issues getting claims processed: When additional information was requested, I emailed the documents, per their request. When I continued to get emails requesting the same information, I had to call so the operator could manually add the information to the claim. This happened for multiple claims. I shouldn't have to call for every claim to ensure the information I sent via the method they requested gets added to the claim. 3) Claims getting denied: my most recent claim was denied. I have had 4 claims for the exact same issue (rehabilitation consult + treatment) approved for this pet. They are now making me appeal this claim because "consult" is not covered - even though rehabilitation services are covered and the exact same invoice item has been covered 4 times. Overall, I am disappointed in this company and no longer recommend them. They will do everything they can to deny claims and you have to call repeatedly to get claims approved.

AVOID THESE SCAMMERS
SCAM. Signed up for insurance in December, never received any communications about my policy, not even a policy number. Apparently I was supposed to receive a whole Policy Packet, never saw it. I guess that’s my fault for trusting MetLife to be reputable. When trying to activate my account online- emails were ignored, customer service agents couldn’t give a straight answer on how to activate my account. The only easy part was cancelling the policy. They scammed me out of $130 as I was paying for this insurance for months and I didn’t even get a policy number.

I am very disappointed
I am very disappointed. I have been a client (with multiple pets) since 2007 and ASPCA Pet Insurance has been going downhill over the last 5 years. They cannot blame the pandemic, because customer service has been declining for longer than that. They recently changed the website one more time and now hardly ever works, overall the site is buggy. Now, the claim submission form is super long and takes double the time with all the clicks and odd navigation, and when you finally reach the end of it, the site acts up and you cannot submit it and it loses the info. When we call, the new phone tree is torture if you are lucky to survive, you still need to wait at least 15 min to talk to someone. The reimbursement levels have been declining gradually and they got to a point that is hard to cover any expense, it is unrealistic.
