BEWARE of MetLife renewal and raising cost 40% !
-------After having policy with MetLife for several years and now second dog - we never had a complaint EXCEPT now ! At our renewal they raised the pricing 40% -- no formal letter although they state it was sent in an email 60 days ago ?? regardless how outrageous ! we only used a small portion of our benefit ! I will be shopping around tomorrow. -

I have tried many different pet insurance options over the last few years, spot has been the simplest and most reliable. Easy to upload claims and the are processed in a timely manner. I have even used the tele vet service which was very useful.

Focus on Care Instead of Cost
We decided to use Healthy Paws because, with two big young Labradors, we figured something was bound to go wrong with an injury or eating something they weren't supposed to. We used it regularly when one was put on medication for environmental allergies. Never did we imagine that our 3-year-old Lab would fall victim to the mysterious pneumonia that has been widely publicized. We were heartbroken when, after five days at the emergency vet on oxygen, numerous medications, and the illness worsening, we had to let her go. When we submitted a substantial bill, we were not questioned about the charges for the care given, and they offered their condolences. Healthy Paws canceled the policy for our dog that passed without being asked while keeping everything in place for our other dog. The unused portion of the monthly payment was refunded. Losing such a young dog is tragic, but knowing we had Healthy Paws insurance allowed us to focus on care instead of cost. Healthy Paws' response couldn't have been more supportive. Highly recommend TruPanion
My 8 year old Schnauzer Penny was extremely ill when we took her to our vet. After the vet did her initial evaluation and advised us of the expected protocol, we mentioned that we had TruPanion (TP) coverage. The vet told us that they would submit any forms and that they understood that TP was very easy to deal with. I was hopeful that this would be the case. At the end of a week on antibiotics and IV fluids and several sessions of bloodwork we received a diagnosis with our Penny now on the mend. We paid our bill and the vet submitted the clam on-line. The following morning I woke to an email & text indicating that our claim had been received and was being reviewed. A day later we received an email advising that our claim had been approved and that the payment was being issued. I needed clarification on something so called the TP help line. The person I spoke with was most helpful and very knowledgeable. A really positive experience at a stressful time.

Too expensive for what it is
Too expensive for what it is. They fight any claim you make and don’t cover much. They are pretty blunt about letting you know anything you submit they will dig deep in your pets medical to not pay you a dime. I’ve paid them thousands this year for my pets and I’ve had them apply $18 to my deductible. Look elsewhere.

Your payment system is too slow
Your payment system is too slow. You demand information I would not have (medical records from before my pet was born) and I must wait until the vet staff has time to collect this information and reply. This must stop. The vet makes the decision and then informs me so I can say yes or no. Your job (requirement) is to pay what I said yes.
