I have had two policies in the past…
I have had two policies in the past neither covered annual exams. My dog’s insurance was a great investment and helped greatly when she developed an illness. I had my cats insurance from @2012 to 2019. In December of 2019 at a vet visit the office noted we should consider prescription cat food for developing kidney disease. When we took him back to the vet a few months later the vet took blood work and recommended we start a medicine for his kidneys. When I submitted the bill it was denied and I was told it was a continuing illness from the previous year and was not covered. I still don’t understand the denial. Six years without a claim and then told it was not covered. We have been paying for meds and now infusions three years later and have no insurance coverage. I do not think the very limited coverage was worth much once a problem develops in an older cat. Money wasted for six years. I thought I had him covered for catastrophic illnesses but evidently it all has to happen in the same year. After talking with a rep I was told that the coverage really wouldn’t cover anything anymore since the kidney disease was life threatening I cancelled after many years with only a claim for one prescription being sent. Very disappointed!

Declined a valid claim
Said that an injury was pre-existing to decline a claim despite that the injury occurred while my horse was covered. I thought ASPCA would be better, but they're just as blood sucking as every other insurance company looking to deny every claim whether warranted or not. Disappointing.

What a RELIEF
This is the first time I have ever had pet insurance. I’ve had dogs my entire adulthood. I now have three active purebred dogs ranging in age from three to down to nine months. All of my dogs have been adopted or fostered for some reason after I adopted second one, when the veterinarian asked me if I had pet insurance, and I said, no, I went home and started researching. All of my other dogs have been quiet toy breeds, but these three are pretty wild and crazy. I always thought pet insurance was kind of a waste of money to be honest I had heard some stories in which pet insurance just didn’t really pay anything or that there was a huge deductible etc. When I got home from the vet, I started doing some research and landed on Healthy Paws Pet Insurance because of the deductible, premiums and no lifetime maximums. Not long after this we decided to foster a puppy. She appeared to be healthy and perfect. But after we had her for a few weeks it was clear she was having some issue. I took her to my vet who sent her to a specialist. She had have surgery. We were devastated. Not only were we so worried about our puppy, but we were worried about the money. Never have I been so grateful as I have been for Healthy Paws! They paid our claim so quickly and it was so easy. I just uploaded the receipt and the doctors note online and they sent me a check about three days later! I cannot say enough good things about them. I HIGHLY recommend healthy paws as pet insurance!!

Substantial Rate Increase when claims are submitted
I finally submitted a claim for my dogs vet visits since it seems like she may have a bit of a allergy and ear issue. I submitted her vet records and bills and the very next day after I submitted them I got my rate increase with my renewal that was coming due. My rate increased by $122! The "explanation" for the increase is due to age. My dog isn't even 3 years old. It's pretty shady due to the fact that you can't go find another pet insurance due to their "Pre-Existing" clause. So my only option that I was told is I can change my coverage to lower my premium! That was the solution, So Now I will file and contact the department of insurance because this is a shady way to do business, not to mention they aren't allowed to increase rates due to filed claims. Absolutely disguested because they will continue to increase the rates year after year.
