I would give a zero if I could
I would give a zero if I could. Instead of focusing on the overall rating, I read the reviews and realized there are a lot of people who had similar experiences that I had. I rescued Pepper in November 2025 and enrolled with Trupanion in March 2026. She had parvo before I adopted her. After months of paying premiums I submitted two claims totaling $379.63 for acute diarrhea and conjunctivitis. Both were denied as pre-existing conditions. I appealed twice, including submitting a formal letter from my veterinarian who specifically stated that diagnostic testing showed NO evidence of permanent intestinal damage from parvo and that the conjunctivitis cause was unspecified. Both appeals were denied. I received zero coverage after paying $190 in premiums. Trupanion is not appropriate for rescue dogs with any medical history. Save your money and go with Fetch instead — they actually built their insurance specifically for rescue pets. I can’t reply to them below. But I did dispute the denial of the claim. And they still said it was a past issue even though it was not. My dog all of a sudden was showing signs of diarrhea and vomiting so I brought her to the vet and they said that was a pre-existing condition because she had loose stools when I got her as a puppy. Which is completely different than what I brought her in for.

Highly deceptive marketing
Highly deceptive marketing. They claim to reimburse 90%. That is a lie I got back a little over $500, from an almost $1400 injury. I will be looking for better insurance for my dog. Probably Lemonade, once I do some research on the company. I will NOT be keeping this bullshit "insurance"...

"My schnauzer recently underwent an urgent care vet visit. Since multiple systems were involved, it was a little difficult to decide what to pick from the pick-list, but the opportunity to detail the problems in my own terms was helpful. Response was immediate. From notification of we've received your claim to your claim is being processed to here's your EOB to your money has been deposited in your account took a week maybe. Pumpkin is the best pet insurance ever…
Pumpkin is the best pet insurance ever made. When my dog Zuko got sick, they paid out over $60k in hospital bills with no questions asked - and they cover EVERYTHING! They pay quickly, the process is easy, and I am a customer for life. If you are shopping for pet insurance there is NOBODY more comprehensive or better than them. My dog is alive because of Pumpkin. We LOVE THEM!
