cost increase would lead to bankruptcy
i rescued maggie 2 years ago and signed up for trupanion right away and was so happy to know maggie would be covered and i had no worries. at year one anniversary price increases from 90 to 150, now year 2 annual review and price goes to 350 ate you nuts, more than double in one year and almost 400 percent increase in 2 years with 1 claim for an ear infection in 2 years. this is nuts , i have one month to figure out an alternative since i can’t pay 350 a month and she is only 7 what happens when she is 8,9,10 years old will i be up to 1000 dollars a month. this is more than my own insurance, o am on social security how am i supposed to properly care for my dog at these prices!!!! I was so happy to have you as my insurance company now i feel cheated of a chance to give my dog the best available coverage.

After paying for dental work. I researched pet insurance and decided to go with MetLife. I love them. If I have questions I can call and get answers. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I wish claims were processed a little faster but otherwise highly recommend them. I just recently picked another policy up for my cat.

Worst experience with an insurance company ever! I purchased the insurance after my cat developed symptom of pulling out fur, which appeared to anxiety related. Shortly after effective date he was diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is not related to alopecia. The claims were denied, I appealed and vet sent in a supporting letter which agreed alopecia is not a symptom of diabetes. The appeal was denied. The denial letter did not provide any information regarding the next stage of the appeal process, or the 30 day time frame for appeal. 6 weeks after I received the letter, I called to get information on the appeal process, and was told the time had expired. Metlife's conduct is disgraceful. Don't waste your money or time.

Always great.
They have always paid my claims and I had over five dogs that were covered by them. They never refused any claims they even paid for two knee surgeries on one of my dogs and they always pay for the euthanasia part at the end of life. I've had MetLife for over 13 years and I have gotten back quite a bit of reimbursement which would have cost me an out-of-pocket since I always had five dogs at a time. I highly recommend this insurance to all the people who ask me what insurance I use I just tell them that they just don't cover pre-existing but otherwise they're great. Plus they less then any others I have checked. Especially for senior dogs.
Very easy to submit a claim
Very easy to submit a claim using the website. Only other claim was handled in a timely manner. New customer (10 months) with this insurer, so far so good.

They make it so easy to submit a claim and then se d reimbursement. Takes the stress away when unexpected vet visits come up and your able to take the best care of your animal.

Improvement in laying out the details of the plan...I had it for two years and after the first year gathered all my paperwork and found out it was passed the expiration date of turning things in...More hassle then its worth. Plus to high of monthly premiums.
