Pets best is a scam

Pets best is a scam. This is my experience over a 6 year period. I insured my shitzu as a puppy. Zero health issues. Took the complete and total coverage. At first they paid small amounts for vet bills, never what they claim but something. Every year the insurance premiums went up. For a few years they paid small amounts for claims. As my dog grew older she developed an eye issue that required surgery and they paid a small percentage of the operation. I figured that I needed to continue now that she has a prexisting condition and that since she is getting older it's best to continue because some coverage is better than nothing especially if she develops a catastrophic illness in the future. Their premiums started at around $50 and ended up at $135 per month. No major illnesses have occurred ever other than the eye surgery. All claims had to do with standard checkups and vaccinations. Pets Best beginning in the 4th year started to reject all claims. No explanation just denial. Not a penny. What this company does is very simple. They string you along by paying minimal amounts while your dog is young while raising your premiums without fail year after year. As your dog gets older they payout less and less until they outright reject your claims entirely. This forces you to eventually cancel your insurance with them. This way they reduce their exposure to more serious claims as Pets age. Now if I was able to prove this, I would have taken them to court, but to due so would be more costly than it was worth. I really believe that this is their business practice. This is my experience. I just want people who are searching for dog insurance to be aware and very cautious of this company.

After weeks and weeks of phone calls…

After weeks and weeks of phone calls and repetitive emails from Healthy Paws requesting the same information they were provided by myself and my vet's office, my claim was resolved. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Young dogs can get sick too, invest before it’s too late

I would tell people how much I’m paying for pet insurance a month. Literally everyone called me insane and told me it wasn’t going to work or my dog was too young I didn’t need to pay for it now. That was all before my dog got diagnosed with life threatening chronic disease at the age of 4. What it took for him to get diagnosed and treated for this disease was thousands of dollars spent in ER clinics visits and overnight stays. He will need to be on medication and receive monthly care and injections for the rest of his life. As a young woman looking to buy a house and start a family soon, that adds up very quickly. Thankfully I didn’t listen to anyone else and still paid my monthly pet insurance fees to healthy paws. After the first claim (reading through his 200+ page medical reports), I now get reimbursed within a few days. My pup is doing great now but he still has his moments when he’s not feeling great and I’m so thankful I don’t have to make the tough decision of getting him the care he needs or paying rent. Thanks to healthy paws, I can call the emergency vet clinic and how I’m going to pay for bills is not even on my mind. Healthy paws has definitely made a positive impact on how mine and my pup’s life is turning out. I don’t even want to imagine what position I’d be in without them.
