6 pets covered under trupanion
I love Trupanion and we have 6 pets enrolled. I have referred 2 friends to this company The only downside is that we find that they increase rates a lot 5 years ago I enrolled my full breed cats at around 25-30$. Now with a higher deductible, it is costing me between 40-45$ to enroll a new cat. My son has two cats with Trupanion and their rates just increased 25$ each. Hopefully they don’t continue to increase this much because it will get difficult for some clients to continue paying high rates monthly All that being said, the customer service is very good. They also send a handwritten note by mail when you lose a pet and it is easy to reach a representative on the phone. The website is, for the most part, user friendly Lastly, it would be really nice if they offered some kind of deal when you have multiple pets insured in one household. They do not offer this

Terrible insurance
Terrible insurance. They don’t wanna pay for something as simple as the vet visit for diarrhea.

Best Pet Insurance
Love Embrace. I wish I would have gotten them earlier. They are quick to respond via customer service and provide a quick turn around for claims.

Easy claim process
I have used Met Life for almost 1 year — plan has 3 dogs on it. I have been very pleased with the customer service and ease of submitting/ processing claims.

denial of coverage
It took over 3 weeks to get any response or updated claim status once I submitted my claim. Apparently, they do a "medical review" when you submit your first claim in which they literally scrutinize everything in your pet's medical history. I knew pre-existing conditions were not covered; however, I didn't realize that included signs/symptoms related to that disease as well. My dog was in the hospital for 3 days for congestive heart failure and her bill was $3400. They denied the claim because there was a past notation of a heart murmur in her medical records. After reading the rest of their medical review, I was concerned about another diagnosis "polydipsia" that they listed as a pre-existing condition because it was notated in a past visit that she was drinking more water than normal. Polydipsia is associated with many diseases, notably kidney disease which is common with older pets. So now my concern is that anything kidney related will not be covered as well. When asked if it would be covered or not, she said that she couldn't answer that because it depends on what the vet says. Unless her kidney disease was due to some acute event like trauma or infection, I don't believe that it would be covered but they can't confirm that. I don't have a lot of faith in this company to provide coverage because there seems to be a lack of transparency and that they look for ways to deny claims. Unfortunately, after doing research online, there are issues with seems like all pet insurance. Either because of high premium increases, lack of customer service, denial of claims etc. For me, Spot was fantastic because my claim was approved in 2 days! But they raised the premium from $150 to $200 the following year. My advice to pet owners is to set up your own account for your pet once you get them and don't rely on insurance companies. If you deposit $100 a month in a high yield interest-bearing account at 5%, you will have almost $7000 for your pet in 5 years. It's too late for my dog because she is already 14.5 years old. But I will definitely go that route in the future.
