Trupanion is totally worth the cost of peace of mind.
After paying out thousands for pet care we finally decided that pet insurance was the way to go. Our Chihuahua is 16 and in really good health but on Sunday I knew there was something seriously wrong. She couldn’t urinate. Never even had a urinary tract infection that we were aware of. Rushed her to the animal emergency hospital where they confirmed that she had stones blocking her bladder. Estimate for care and surgery $10,000-$13,000. I knew we had Trupanion and didn’t think twice about how we were going to afford treating her. We paid our deductible and Trupanion paid the rest directly to the animal hospital. Otherwise, we would have to had close to $10,000 that day to treat her. None of us think this would happen to us but I witnessed other pet parents trying to pay their bill with multiple credit cards and debit cards that day. We made a very wise decision to get pet insurance and to pick Trupanion.

Beware of policy wording - read fine print
This company has very misleading advertising. They claim to cover 90% of the bill but they don't cover taxes or exam fees! Where I am taxes are 13% which means they cover 77% at best. They claim to not raise premiums based on age but it's clear from reviews you can expect a 50-100% increase when the dog is a few years old. (I feel they rely on cost sunk fallacy.) They don't cover dental extractions if your dog is a heavy chewers or doesn't get frequent cleanings. The deductible is per illness so if your dog starts vomitting after an emergency vet visit you will still be on the hook for the deductible again. Cancelling wasn't too much of a hassle. I cancelled almost immediately after signing up. Hopefully it gets processed quickly.

Claims processing
The worst of all I've worked with over the years. Claims submitted accurately and completely take weeks for any attention and then never communicating if any additional proof needed. Don't believe their 5-10 day processing nonsense. Like clockwork your premium payments are addressed though. They should put that kind of focus on reimbursing their clients

Very pleased and very happy!
I was very, very pleased with my experience with Embrace Pet Insurance. I mailed in two claims for the very first time and was pleased with the reimbursement payment that I received for my kitty's vet bill. It was also an very quick response. Good job Embrace! I am very happy.

Likely good scam artists
I am giving them one more chance but I know the insurance business and so far they are scam artists and they don't care about pet owners whatsoever.

Avoid
Avoid! They refuse to pay anything for any reason. Everything done correctly. Dog was injured required surgery months after taking out insurance and they received an incorrect form from vet on the ESTIMATE piece. Not actual claim. All correct paperwork was submitted on claim and they denied basing off estimate. Appealed and never heard from them again. Going to have to sue.

Healthy Paws is the best pet insurance…
Healthy Paws is the best pet insurance provider for my 2 fur babies. Both have had significant health issues (one had 2 torn CCL and one had a spinal stroke that left him paralyzed in his rear legs for several months). We wouldn’t have been able to provide the needed care for both of them without Healthy Paws. For our paralyzed pup, Healthy Paws also covered rehab services. Very quick claims processing and payout process. Cannot say enough positive things about the coverage and service.
