We love healthy paws for our pet insurance provider
Our Alice has has some incidents over the years and health problems, and we are so grateful for Healthy Paws to help us cover her medical expenses. They are real humans on the other end of the claims, work well with our vet clinic when needed, and always resolve and reimburse within an incredibly timely window. Incredibly grateful
I am so incredibly grateful for Trupanion. I got the pet insurance just out of an abundance of caution, fully expecting I'd just be paying for peace of mind. Well, my girl ended up with mammary tumors ($900 surgery during COVID times), then heart issues ($600 echo once a year plus meds), needed a TPLO and patella surgery (almost $7k), dislocated hip with emergency surgery ($2k), liver biopsy surgery and treatment for PVH ($6k), arthritis (gets Librela and Adequan shots monthly for a couple hundred bucks), allergies (gets Cytopoint injections), now Cushing's—she is the sweetest girl, a rescue with a tough past, and she has probably cost these people way more than they bargained for by now because our monthly payment is still only $116 and her meds alone are more than $300/mo, but Trupanion is so sweet and gracious about everything. My only regret is I wish I'd paid more for the complementary care (acupuncture, physical therapy, etc.). Insure your animals when they are young. The rate does go up just with inflation or if you live in an area where veterinary care costs more, but they don't charge more as the animal ages or as they develop more issues, and bless them for not dropping us after everything that is wrong with my dog. Get the most coverage you can afford, even if it's a stretch, and pay that premium with a smile every month. If your animal lives long enough, you will eventually get everything you paid and more back in coverage. A $500 lifetime deductible per issue and then 90% coverage for everything but basics like exam fees—that is ridiculously good coverage, especially as vet care keeps going up. I wish Trupanion covered humans; I would switch myself over today. They are also just very sweet. Every time I have to call, I have an excellent and happy interaction. I just called today with a silly tech question and Vanessa was so kind and even wished my dog well. Do be prepared to wait a little for payouts; it's not instant. But it is very quick all things considered, and I always get the payout before my credit card bill is due. I had a few issues with the automatic AI on reimbursement submissions, but they always fixed it quickly and easily when I called. Trupanion is run by angels. I recommend them to everyone.
