Great for puppies!

My wife and I really like the puppy (Platinum) plan. It helps us to stay organized on our puppy's needs in the first year of life. It also helps to save us a lot of out-of-pocket costs.

Embrace is useless

So far Embrace seems useless. I’m paying close to $140 a month for pet insurance on a 10 month old pup. I took her to the vet for an ear infection and Embrace won’t reimburse my $250 vet bill because they are claiming it’s a pre-existing condition. The dog hasn’t had an ear infection since she was 3 months old. She was given medication at that time and it cleared up. I’m probably going to keep the insurance until she is spade and then drop it. Seems to me like I would be better off putting the $140 a month in a savings account for when things happen. Waste of money..

My premium was raised over 115$ in less…

My premium was raised over 115$ in less than a year … that last 14$ increase was because of breed change . Now keep in mind when taking out your policy they do a complete medical records check - but apparently since my vet listed my boy as a German shepherd instead of a Belgian , the last claim we put in , that constitutes a 14$ payhike… also takes months to settle claims … not good … go somewhere else . In response to embraces reply - the only reason given to me for rate increase was “breed change “ that is after emailing 2 diff people . Again , his medical records from beginning of start of policy did not change / his breed did not change …and yes , I cancelled my policy with your company after paying a year of premiums . Dont know why you couldn’t find my acct - listed under very unhappy customer 🫤

NOT HAPPY AT ALL

I was so glad to get pet insurance to be at ease. My fur baby needed a special surgery because he could not be neutered the normal way. They will NOT cover his special surgery or the $300 ultrasound required before the surgery.

Healthy Paws Saved Our Pup

We no sooner adopted our rambunctious puppy and got him established with Healthy Paws, than he had a freak accident involving a friendly game of tug with a large dog and broke the growth plate off his femur, requiring a total hip replacement. Healthy Paws was a Godsend. They never questioned a bill. Always processed our claims within 48 hours, and we always had a direct deposit payment 24 hours after that. I am not sure we could have given this beautiful puppy a chance for a normal life without Healthy Paws.

It ain't what it used to be

I got healthy paws when I first signed up with them 10 years ago for my that was eight weeks at the time. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with the bladder stone that he couldn't pass and so we had to have surgery. In order to have surgery you need to have a preop exam where they found a heart murmur. Because I had I insurance I had him evaluated by a cardiologist who diagnosed dilated cardiomyopathy. While he is on a lot of medication after the diagnosis his monthly bill was $58 it went to 85 and then it went to one 158.00 which seemed reasonable because I have been a policyholder with them for 10 years. I got a notification from healthy paws in June apprising me that the monthly premium for him was going to go up from $158 a month to $237 a month. And, significant amount of time had not passed from the 158 monthly amount to the 237 monthly amount. When I contacted them they couldn't give me a straight answer as to why such a significant jump in the monthly payments despite his medication and regimen not changing. The customer service representative could not really give me a straight answer and and eventually admitted that there are no regulations, statutes, or case law that prevents them from raising premiums without a cap. When I press a little more about those the customer service representative felt inclined to hang up on me. Well I have considered lowering from 90% coverage with a $250 deductible to 70% coverage and $1000 deductible. But in thinking about their significant Price increases without having a cap, I worry that if I lower the coverage they could just bring it back up to the $237 and then I have lower coverage because I cannot you can go down here to make matters worse, six month old puppy I had for six months and the premium started at $32. I've had a little over a year and it has increased to $48 and she has not even met her deductible. Nor has she filed a claim. I'm giving this review three stars because I used to be amazing with quick reimbursement but over the years they're pricing creases are deplorable and their custom service is no better.

Would highly recommend SPOT insurance based on our recent experience.

Our little dog Wally made it to the ripe old age of 12 years old without ever having any veterinary problems until this summer. He had an acute onset of glaucoma which we later found out was caused by a tumor in the iris. Having his eye removed was a very emotional experience and the vet bills totaled a little over $6,000. SPOT was amazing, their customer service excellent, and after our $1,000 deductible was paid, they reimbursed us 90% (the payout was also very fast). I am so thankful that I found SPOT insurance & highly recommend this company. Thank you to all those at SPOT for helping to ease the financial stress of our pet's surgery & care.
