More Difficult than Medicare and SSA to Manage
When we signed up in 2020, they had good reviews. Once in, you have to upload all of your pets history, which we did. For 4 and a half years we have been canceled once with no notice because the card expired. Guess what, you have to reload all your doxuments, two week before we knew because we checked the card. Biggest issue is all their time, we had one claim approved to our deductible. The others they ran into lack is docs. We have a service dog, so everything has been provided every time. Their fees also are outrageous for the lack of coverage. Go anywhere but here.
Friendly and Professional
Friendly and Professional. I have had four dogs covered with this company, and have had exceptional service from them. Claims were paid promptly and those who were not, were explained to me as to why not. The staff are helpful, informative and compassionate, which is one of the reasons why I use this service. Filing a claim on line is very easy and quick, and you can check on the progress of your claim online as well. I highly recommend this insurance for your pets, from puppy to older adult, this company provides first class treatment and coverage.

large increases
after first year metlife pet insurance increased 100 100% increase after first year ---- i stuck with them because first year was affordable. Now its obvious when i will need my dogs insurance most in the future it will be unaffordable for a $5500. payout yearly plan with a $250 deductlible. MetLife you are now priced out of my ballpark. ! 5

Healthy Paws is the best!
Healthy Paws has always been there for us and especially recently with one of our cats who has been battling multiple tumors/cancers the last few years. The number of diagnostics and treatments she has had to have would have broken the bank, but Healthy Paws covered 80% minus exam fees! Incredible! Our cat is still going through chemo but is doing really well thanks to Healthy Paws. We will never not have pet insurance again for any pet and will always choose Healthy Paws knowing how great they have been to us over the years. Yes, the premiums do increase each year, but they do for my other insurances too, like human medical, auto, home, etc. Thank you Healthy Paws!

I feel scammed
The process of submitting a claim is simple, however when your company needs more information, they should reach out rather than terminating a claim leaving me contacting them multiple times and sending information multiple times before getting a response. Additionally, pathetic excuses have been made to avoid providing coverage.

Quick response
I appreciated the quick response to our claim and the fact that the charges for our dog's annual checkup didn't have to count against a deductible. Thank you!

Stay away from MetLife dog insurance
We first signed up with MetLife on December 29, 2022, for a pet insurance policy with 100% coverage and a $200 annual deductible. The monthly premium was quoted at $65.36. Our dog, a Great Dane mix, had just turned one on October 31, 2022, and had no pre-existing conditions at the time. When it came time to renew the policy on December 29, 2023, the coverage remained the same, but the premium increased to $90.30/month — a 38% hike. When I reached out to MetLife, I was told the increase was due to rising veterinary costs in our area. We accepted the new rate and moved on. However, on November 23, 2024, I received an email stating our policy would renew again on December 29, 2024 — this time with a new premium of $182.20/month. That’s a 100.17% increase from the $90.30/month we were paying just one year ago! I called MetLife on November 24, 2024, to ask about the drastic rate hike. I spoke to two representatives. The first couldn’t explain which factor contributed to the 100.17% increase, while the second claimed the hike was due to our dog’s age — he turned 3 years old on October 31, 2024. They also mentioned that location and breed could affect rates, but neither could provide specific details on how these factors applied to our situation. In the end, the decision is yours, but based on these facts, I would not recommend MetLife dog insurance to anyone!
