COVERAGE FULL OF LIES
COVERAGE FULL OF LIES! They say they cover then deny and add a false timeframe. Better off just paying out of pocket because you won’t get your money back.

Rising Premiums and Pre-existing Conditions
Insurance premiums are rising, but don’t worry! Embrace sent me an email that we, the consumer, are in complete control. We can simply make the coverage worse and then we won’t have to pay so much. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it myself! That was sarcasm. Most recently, they have denied our pet’s care based on preexisting conditions. Our dog had a yeast infection in his ears confirmed on microscopy. He also happened to have an allergy to chicken-based food as a puppy which resulted in otitis externa. Now I am being told all dermatologic conditions are no longer covered as they are pre-existing conditions. If a dog has ANY kind of medical problem prior to obtaining coverage, then the ENTIRE SYSTEM of their body is no longer covered. Hives? Yeast? Cellulitis? Otitis externa? Otitis media? Heat rash? They are ALL not covered. The solution was simple: stop feeding him chicken. I get that if we feed him chicken, and he gets an allergic reaction, then don’t cover it! But denying an entire body system regardless of cause makes no sense medically. It makes sense financially, avoid paying out and then profit. It’s the business model for all insurance companies, for animals and for humans. Don’t be fooled. I’m also on hold for at least 30-45 minutes every time I call them. And before anyone suggests that we just seek other options and allow the free market to somehow magically provide us with a better deal, every other pet insurance company uses preexisting conditions as well. So, what we are left with is the coverage we have and the illusion of a choice in the matter.

Pumpkin insurance paid some for my dog’s issue and I was pleased with their payment. However, I felt it took too long to process claim bit once I called them, they paid their portion. It is worth having pet insurance to help with costs of medical care.

Reliable Coverage and Excellent Claims Service
I’ve been using Healthy Paws pet insurance for over eight years, and my experience has consistently been positive. Their claims team has always been helpful, responsive, and easy to work with. Most recently, I filed a claim for my Boston Terrier, and it was processed quickly and efficiently. It’s reassuring to have a company that provides reliable support when it matters most.

Faulty Pet Insurance review process
I purchased MetLife Pet Insurance to protect myself from unexpected veterinary expenses. Unfortunately, when I needed them most, my experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. My dog Coco underwent surgery in March 2026 after developing symptoms that began only 10-12 days before treatment. MetLife denied my claim, claiming the condition was pre-existing. The problem was that their decision was based largely on inaccurate notes taken by a non-clinical staff member during my initial consultation. The notes contained multiple obvious errors, including listing my female dog as a male, incorrectly stating she had a C-section when she did not, and misstating important details about her medical history. Despite these errors being identified and corrected by both the treating surgeon and Coco’s longtime veterinarian, MetLife continued to rely on the same inaccurate information through the initial denial, first appeal, and second appeal. Over the course of several months, I spent countless hours on the phone with multiple representatives, repeatedly explaining the same concerns and asking that someone simply contact the veterinary hospital to clarify the discrepancies. I obtained letters from the hospital manager, the treating surgeon, and Coco’s longtime veterinarian, all of which supported that there was no documented history of respiratory issues prior to the symptoms that led to surgery. What concerns me most is not just the denial itself, but the apparent unwillingness to fully consider corrected medical information and thoroughly investigate obvious discrepancies before making a decision. I also was not clearly informed of all of my options during the appeal process until it was nearly too late. Pet owners purchase insurance for peace of mind. My experience with MetLife Pet Insurance was the exact opposite. Instead of feeling supported during a stressful situation, I spent months fighting to correct inaccurate information that should have been addressed from the beginning. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering MetLife Pet Insurance to carefully review claim denials, obtain copies of all records, and be prepared to advocate aggressively for themselves if discrepancies arise.
