good insurance to have

My cat Cayenne had her tail amputated due to an infected cyst. The insurance really helped defray the cost.

Don't Choose Embrace

I paid Embrace in excess of $80 a month for my two very young cats, the first for just about a year and the second for about six months when I made my first claim. I'd taken my just over a year-old female cat to the vet because she had diarrhea. Embrace called the condition pre-existing because 11 months earlier, when I originally brought her home from Petco, I must have told the vet that saw my cat for a check-up a day after I got her, that she had slightly loose stools...not diarrhea. In any event, at that time, I'm sure it was from either fear of being in a new home or a change in her diet from what she was used to. At that time no vet was seen for any specific problem, only to have her checked out since I'd just gotten her. The call of a pre-existing condition was ludicrous. Once Embrace can call a diarrhea pre-existing, anything that remotely has that symptom can be denied by them...anything! It was a tricky and unethical loophole that they were creating to protect themself. Fortunately, I was only out (ahem) about $800 in wasted insurance preumiums, but you can be sure that I canceled my policy the very next day. If you're getting insurance for peace of mind, before you choose Embrace, please consider what I've said.

Very good

Fortunately to date we have only used the wellness care part of the policy that covers our two Lab Retrievers. Our male Lab is a certified Service Dog and our female Lab will shortly get her certification. As both Labs go in for physicals twice a year with a full exam (blood work ups, etc) at least once a year, the policy has helped us control the cost of Vet services. Also it is comforting to know that should an emergency occur we can provide treatment for our Labs without worrying about the cost of the treatment. As both my wife and I are disabled and depend on our Labs to help us get around, this is the least we can do to insure that the best possible care is available to them if needed.

peace of mind

I'm a new customer with two kittens. These boys had quite a bit of work done(neutering, microchipping, vet check up's. Because I had these things done, my Embrace monthly bill was reduced nicely. I got my claim $$ in a few weeks with several friendly emails. I'm going to like doing business with these people, I think. It's great peace of mind for me to know I'll have financial help, and I'll never have to choose between going to the vet and having enough money to survive.

So far so good!

I've had my dog Preston on ASPCA health insurance for almost a year now and have no complaints. There's been a few small incidents (tick and foxtail removal) that have been partially covered, depending on the accompanying prescriptions, but ASPCA was really great to have a few months ago when Preston was hit by a car. I can not stress enough just how important it is to have SOME kind of insurance -- I was able to focus on Preston getting the best care instead of worrying about the bill the whole time. ASPCA followed up less than a month later with the reimbursement check, cutting our $2,000+ bill down to about $500. I was at first annoyed by having to pay the $100 deductible, but after seeing that most other insurances have a deductible per incident, the ASPCA plan seems a bit better.

not worth it

Until I cancelled, I had repeated problems with declines for pre-existing conditions that did not exist. Ex. a decline for my dog's x-ray for a pre-existing shoulder injury - he did not have a shoulder injury. Another one - decline for vaginal infection as a pre-existing condition when her pre-existing condition was a bladder infection. Vet had to send corroborating info on every single claim, including clarifying the difference between a vagina and a urethra!! Compared to what I paid for 5 animals, they paid virtually nothing.

very easy to use

Have had this insurance since I got my st. bernard when he was 8 wks. got the policy that covers heartworm prev. and frontline. and after five years have had to use insurance for growth removal twice. I had no problems sumitted my claim and within 2-3 weeks recived my check. We had a st. before this one and the medical expense we had with him was very high wish I had this insurance for him. Best thing I ever did.

Wouldn't go without it!

My min-pin was bit by something as a puppy and at that time we didn't have insurance. I was out $2400 but it saved his life. At that time, my wife and I decided to purchase pet insurance and ASPCA was recommended by our vet. 2 years later, my same min-pin was bitten by a coyote and almost died. The vets saved his life again, but this time we had pet insurance. The vet bill was $1700, but we only paid $400. Thank you ASPCA, we wouldn't go without pet insurance again.
