Might not be worth it

My cat's claim was denied because his file said he'd vomited a couple times in the past. What animal doesn't vomit at some point in 9 years? That's hardly the same thing as vomiting repeatedly for days in a row, requiring x rays, multiple blood tests, and medications. Unless you insure your healthy pet at birth, it might not be worth it. Your dog was hit by a car and broke his leg? Well, it says here that 5 years ago he tore a dew claw so that leg's not covered. Your dog has pleurisy? Well, she was panting during an exam 10 years ago so that's not covered. She obviously had lung issues then. Cat's developed diabetes? Well, he was apparently a bit overweight at one point so we aren't going to cover that. Any animal that hasn't had a major illness can still be construed as having pre-existing symptoms for just about everything at some point. I'm saying yes for recommending this company to other pet owners, but it's very conditional. Get the insurance at your puppy/kitten's first exam. Maybe then they'd actually be covered.

Positives and Negatives

The positives are that they have excellent customer service and are much better than VPI. The reimbursement by reasonable and customary is much better than a set fee. Negatives: I signed my dog up for insurance the day we picked him up from the breeder. Unfortunately the breeder was giving him his immunizations and he wasn't due to go to the vet for 3 weeks. When he was at his first appointment, he had a little diarrhea and was diagnosed with colitis. Which is now considered a pre-existing condition DESPITE the fact that it was after the waiting period. Puppies get diarrhea from time to time, I'm just afraid all GI related diseases will be excluded... The claims process took FOREVER, I think it was 16 or 17 business days (a MONTH to get a check) after filling my claim, after countless phone calls. They did end up covering the expenses of a subsequent ER visit. However, there was a great deal of anxiety over if it would be considered pre-existing. I had to fight the vet to take my dog home sooner because I was afraid I couldn't afford the visit. I bought the policy early to avoid they anxiety of pre-existing conditions and that certainly was NOT the case...

Easy to use

I leave a supply of claim sheets with my vet's office and just have them complete and fax when I pay for the visit. The form is quick and easy and I get an email within a day or two confirming reciept!

True dedication to animals

I used to have a health plan w/ VPI, but b/c of financial difficulties decided to cancel it. My dog was still young enough (about 5). But after some years I thought it would be best to get coverage for him again since he had just turned 8. So I called VPI again and to my surprise and disapointment, VPI and some others I contacted turned me down b/c of his age! As if 8 was old. So I found ASPCA and was pleased and grateful that they accepted us. It was a good thing too, b/c 6 mos later my Billy started to bleed internally and after many tests even though the cause was not found, a solution to make it stop was. He is doing better now and thanks to the ASPCA plan I am not in the poor house. each claim I had to put in was at least $150. I even had a claim for $579 and received $402 for it. Even though it's not a 100% return (please let me know if there is such a plan) I am sure glad I wasn't alone in these difficult times! Thanks, ASPCA, for your loyalty and dedication to animals! Sincerely, Adriana

I continue to feel EMBRACED!!!

I recently had my 13 month old Bulldog spayed and was happy that Embrace covered $149.20 towards it. Her Wellness Plan would have covered $200 had I not already used $50.80 on her annual physical and rabies vaccination. As a breeder of Bulldogs I highly recommend Embrace to the new families of each and every puppy that I sell. I had AKC Pet Healthcare Plan for two years before switching to Embrace. All I can say is what a difference!! Embrace's customer service continues to exceed my expectations. I currently have all FIVE of my Bulldogs EMBRACED and the peace of mind it gives me is priceless!!

Embrace - So far - very good

Embrace - So far - very good. 1. Fast Claim response - and follow up emails 2. Embrace paid out more than the last company (PetFirst) for a Wellness Coverage Visit. (Vaccinations) 3. Also received the check in the mail faster than PetFirst.

Not worth the money

I recently had a cat, Lightning, pass away from cancer which was totally devistating to me. My vet, witnessing my sorrow from my beloved pet, found a kitten in front of McDonalds. He had a case of diarrhea so they nursed him to health and gave him to me. When I got braden he was so tiny (5 weeks old) and much too small to insure. But when he hit the mark I purchased Pets Best insurance to cover him. Well at about 11 weeks he I noticed that he had just stopped eating and seemed very lethargic. When he fell asleep in his food bowl I rushed him to emergency where they asked about his health history. The only thing that he ever had was that bout with diarrhea, but living your first few weeks at McDonalds can do that to humans. They determined that he had dehydration because he wasn't eating and drinking and sent us on our way. The next day he seemed better that morning but in the evening he began having horrible tremors. I rushed him back to emergency where they again determined that he must just be dehydrated and gave him more fluids. The next day I took him to his vet and she did a complete blood pannel on him and determined that his blood sugar was 30!! That explained the shaking, lethargy, lack of interest in food which were his symptoms and original complaint. Well Pets Best ordered medical records eventhough they had the complete invoices and payment records which is what they claimed is all that they needed. Well, they saw that he had diarrhea when he was found and denied

Spend a dollar and save several dollars!

Our 3 yr old lab Grace ate a small dollup of insecticide. That little bit of poison almost cost Grace her life and us, $4000k in vet bills! If we had had pet insurance we would have faired a lot better finacially. Now we know.
