Amazing Pet Insurance

I have had Healthy Paws Insurance for almost 15 years on 3 dogs. Prior to that I had two different dog insurance companies that I insured my animals with, but something was missing so I decided to research which pet insurance companies are the best overall and everything pointed to Healthy Paws. I am grateful that I found this company to give me peace of mind if something ever happens to one of our precious family members. In 2015 I was told I needed to see a cancer specialist for my German Shep Bruno because it was diagnosed with Vessel Cancer. After seeing the specialist, I was told that the costs to try and cure the cancer would be over $11K. I knew I had Healthy Paws on my side, and I did! My dog made it through all the Chemo appointments (10) and survived another 6.5 years with us. My entire cost for the treatments was about $2K. I thought for sure the insurance company would cancel Bruno, but they never did. When I called Healthy Paws to let them know that we had to put Bruno down at home they sent a wonderful card, and the agent suggested I submit for a possible reimbursement to have the doctor come to the home which cost about $550. To my surprise Healthy Paws reimbursed me a portion of the cost. Recently after this past Christmas we noticed our dog Pandora (Terrier mix) neck started to swell and it was getting bigger, so we rushed her to our vet who stated this was out of their league and suggested we go to an emergency clinic upon arrival she was admitted, and surgery performed to remove the welt and submit for a biopsy. The results were inconclusive with 4 doctors calling it a mystery. After surgery she developed a heart murmur and pneumonia. We had to go back multiple times, and the costs were adding up to around $9K. I submitted the claims, and they were reviewed and reimbursed within 2-3 days. We have a month to go on medication for Pandora and hope that she heals from whatever these welts are that are popping up on her body. If not, it is onto a CT scan which can cost a lot of money. I don't have to worry because I have Healthy Paws in my corner and supporting my animals 100%. If you are considering pet insurance you will not be disappointed joining the Healthy Paws Family!!!

NOT worth your money.

I am awarding Embrace this low review because of the extremely dissatisfying experience I had with my first and only claim in several faithful years of paying $115 a month for my two dogs and cat. Long story short, our cat began vomiting bile several times a day for 48 hours and was not touching food or water and was acting lethargic. We had adopted her in March 2024 from an Animal Rescue center who had picked her up as a stray, gave her all her necessary vaccines and deemed her perfectly normal and healthy for adoption. She was not due to be seen for an exam until March 2025 for vaccine updates, so in the past 9 months we had no reason to take her in until now for an emergency visit. After several tests and X rays, the vet found no foreign objects inside her, and gave her rehydration treatment, antibiotics, pain medicine and some appetite enhancer to help her get back to normal. The total sum was nearly $1100. She was better within a couple days. I was under the impression that based on what Embrace advertises as what would be covered, that a freak illness that the cat suffered would at least be covered to some degree. Apparently, within the vague and long-winded fine print our faithful claims adjuster did her due diligence to the company to ensure we got coverage for as little as possible (0$), and decided that since our cat had not had a vet exam (apparently the rescue center doesn’t count) that this illness would not be covered because she was technically still in a “waiting period.” I personally cannot fathom why USAA recommends this business as an insurance company when it will reward a paying customer of several years with technicalities and red tape over a measly $1100. I immediately cancelled my policy, because frankly it makes more sense to save that money every month so I have it for any future emergency visit rather than pay this scam of a company $115 a month to just bury me in “legalese” again in the future. If you are currently using this insurance company or plan to, think before you buy. And at a minimum insist on speaking to a HUMAN BEING on the phone to explain to you how to ensure your pets are actually covered and what hidden technicalities are buried in the fine print, because they will surely Embrace your membership fee, but as soon as you ask for a tiny bit of coverage for an actual emergency visit they become stingy and unhelpful.

Embrace

I haven’t had to submit many claims yet thankfully, but as my cat gets older it happens more and more. I used to worry about having to agonize over vet bills and extra costs as he got older, but he’s the first pet I’ve had insured. With Embrace the worry about any costs associated with taking care of any illnesses or accidental injuries is removed, and I’m allowed to make decisions about his care based on what’s best for him - not what I can afford.

Premium increase is outrageous

I’m searching for new pet insurance. My dog, who has never been sick or had any claims filed, is 10 years old. His monthly premium just got increased from $86 to $188. This is beyond ridiculous.

Rate increases more and more

I have not had any issues with a claim being denied, or a delay in reimbursement. My biggest issue with Fetch is how much my monthly rate has increased over 5 years. From when I first enrolled to the new annual premium I've just received, I am paying 78 dollars a month more and $1000 more annually. It's becoming unsustainable and I feel that I am penalized for making any claims because you get a 10% penalty for reimbursement over $250.
