Thank you, Embrace Pet Insurance

I am so very thankful that I went thru all the trouble to sign up and figure out the workings of pet insurance. It was difficult and occasionally confusing to figure out which policy to choose, deduction amounts, coverage percentages, etc. It is Very, Very important to figure it all out ahead of time, before you actually need pet insurance and then it is even more important to "dot the i's and cross the t's" of your policy-- make sure that you do everything that the insurance company asks for, in the time period that they require it. All of these seemingly unimportant details(annual full wellness checks, orthopedic report cards and so on) are crucial to you receiving a payment if and when you need it. If you do so, you will be well rewarded if and when you need pet insurance. My sweet dog Lili tore her first ACL before she was 3 years old (the right leg). I was able to get the best care for her, to research what was best possibilities were for her and then to have the surgery done with a remarkable surgeon, Dr. Farese at the VCA in Rohnert Park-- all thanks to Embrace Pet Insurance. Then, after 2 months of completely healing Lili's right ACL, she tore her left ACL 2 days later. They tell you that there is a 60-80% chance that they will tear the second ACL but not generally this quickly, especially for a young, vibrantly healthy dog. She was only then beginning to take 20 minute walks on a leash, when she tore her left ACL and she wasn't even able to put her left

Maximums per incident

Our Vizsla was diagnosed with IMHA (blood disorder) @ 5+ yrs. old. He went downhill very fast so we took him to Iowa State Llloyd Vet. School. They were great. He wasn't responding to the 8 blood transfusions. After 3 weeks, his spleen was removed and he turned the corner...so we thought. Biopsies came back and it showed that he had cancer of the worst kind. This is the part to be wary of. Initially pets Best covered this as IMHA and in most cases, the dog would not have survived long enough to know that he had cancer. Instead, due to the great dedication (ours and Lloyd Vets) he survived to find he also had cancer. Even though I and the Doctors have sighted a dozen studies which show you can have cancer and not have IMHA, or vice versa (they are 2 separate and distinct diseases) they chose to lump them together and cover it as one. Kind of like saying the flat tire in your car caused your engine to quit working. It is due to this, I can not recommend them. I have had VPI early on when they were just about the only game in town years ago. We switched to Pets Best and were happy with them until a disastrous issue like ours came up. But that's why you have insurance...for the unexpected and they weren't there for us. Now, I will seek insurers who have no maximums such as Healthy Paws in Seattle.

Healthy Paws really cares!

Our first pet puppy Winifred had to be rushed to the emergency room. We were nervous and did not know what was wrong with her mouth. The vet generated a $3,000 estimate of all the procedures they might need to perform. We called Healthy Paws and they quickly had the vet fax over the estimate. Within minutes they called us back with approval! After a few hours the vet found a foxtail burr lodged on her throat. During that time Healthy Paws was readily available to answer any questions we had.

THERE IS SIMPLY NO BETTER PET INSURANCE!

Having been routinely seriously abused and screwed by VPI (the most horrible, shockingly nasty pet insurer in the world) I was surfing the net one day trying desperately to get RID of said company, when I found a non-profit site for animal rescue on which there was a link to "Healthy Paws Pet Insurance"!! Imagine my delight! By I went into the link with more than a little wariness (remember, an abused person has lost nearly all faith in goodness).... It all sounded too good to be true. They were not only a pet insurance organization, but they support animal rescue and had so many perfect reviews...I had to know more. I called and spoke to the kindest woman, who assured me they were all that and a bag of chips....still wary, I signed up online and that, as they say, was all she wrote for me. That was four years ago and since then, I've been MADLY in love with Healthy Paws! No, that is not an overstatement or an exaggeration. These people who comprise this organization are the most wonderful, loving, supportive and responsive crew I've ever been exposed to as a pet loving adult seeking insurance for said family members... I didn't have a claim for a long time and then our beloved mini Schnauzer passed away suddenly (the vet suspected an embolism in the night) and our cat was bereft. Within days, we received a sympathy card, hand written by the president of the company and signed by every person working there, each with a little note of condolence. My husban
