I am very disgusted and upset with this insurance.

Whatever you do, be careful of the fine print. Heaven forbid your animal develop symptoms of a previous illness before the 180 day waiting period from the previous year's coverage. This insurance won't help you. They consider it pre-existing, even if you have had their insurance for years. I've spent hundreds of dollars insuring my cats, now they won't apply my claim to my deductible. So, I'm paying out of pocket for her treatment anyway. What's the point?

Finally a great pet insurance plan

I have tried other pet insurances and there was always excuse after excuse of why they didn't pay but not with Embrace. I have met my deduct on my dog's first injury and they are sending me a check. :)

Disappointing Experience

I submitted a claim to be reviewed (my first one) and it took nearly 5 weeks to have the claim processed. Additionally, several weeks into the process, I received an email noting that Embrace needed medical history from another provider and they had not received the info. Therefore, they were going to cancel the claim for insufficient info if I did not produce that information within 4 days. Meanwhile, that was the first that I had heard of the missing info. Five minutes after receiving that email, I received another email conveying that they had received the info and my claim had been processed. To summarize, my first claim process was a disappointing experience, punctuated with poor communication and customer service, and I will think twice before adding my second cat to this insurance policy.

Thrilled with Embrace

We got our first dog last month and people recommended getting pet insurance. After getting people's advice and also researching different pet insurances (because there are many & some have horrible reviews) we decided to go with Embrace because it came highly recommended. I submitted my first claim on Monday, received an email on Tuesday that they were in receipt of my paperwork and received another email today that they claim has been processed and a check is in the mail. Amazing! I know I chose the right insurance for my dog.

Puppy's Broken Toe

We've had Trupanion insurance for several years for one of our other dogs, and they were wonderful when he needed surgery, so we added our lab puppy to our policy. Two weeks later, he broke a weight-bearing toe while running in our yard. Trupanion is a great insurer - their representatives are always friendly, polite and knowledgeable. The turn-around between submitting a claim and receiving payment is short. I have been very happy with them. The only suggestion I would have for them is that they should cover the vet examination fee for things that need rechecking, like a broken bone. For some reason, they don't cover that. In all other respects, they are wonderful, and I recommend them without reservation.

great performance over the years

I bought a $500 deductible / $10k max accident/illness policy from embrace in 2007 when my dog was about a year old. Because of the relatively high deductible, we had never even submitted a claim until our dog had a serious neck pain issue in 2011. I was very nervous at the time -- we'd been paying this company for four years and you hear all these horror stories, plus once you have an existing condition then you can't switch companies without losing coverage... what if I'd chosen a bad company back in 2007? You can imagine my relief when Embrace was a joy to deal with. My dog ultimately needed an expensive MRI in 2007, and Embrace returned my approved precertification within a day and a half and quickly and fairly paid each claim once I submitted them. It was great to know that my dog (and my finances) are in good hands! My dog's pain has recurred, and I've just had another great experience with a quick MRI precertification and payment. My dog's neurologist volunteered that has she worked with a variety of insurance companies, arguing that tests and procedures should be covered, and that while she has seen some other companies get harder to deal with in recent years, and some have always been a nightmare, Embrace remains among the top of her list.
