Service is excellent, but claim process is not

Their rates, customer service, and coverage are excellent. But their claims process is another story. Even though you have an itemized receipt/invoice from the vet, they require you to have the vet fill out a separate claim form for them that lists exactly what the invoice already has on it and have it signed and stamped by them before they will accept it. This has been a huge hassle, and was contributing to a negative relationship with our vet. We had to cancel the policy and change to another that doesn't have this added layer of work... I would not have chosen this company had I known this beforehand.

Healthy Paws - simply the best!

I did a lot of research on pet insurance before choosing Healthy Paws. What a great company! My dog needed major leg surgery and Healthy Paws was there for me every step of the way. They responded quickly to my requests and questions. You could tell in their voices that the folks in customer care were truly concerned about my dog. They reimbursed me for the surgery in a few short days and they even sent a follow up email to check on how my baby was recovering. I love my dog more than anything and as her guardian, having Healthy Paws gives me the ability to provide her with the best care possible.

Amazing service, quick repay and true pet lovers!

I'm a new member of Healthy Paws with my 10 month old Lab. He was diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia recently, and underwent laproscopic surgery on both elbows at Ohio State University's Companion Animal Hospital. THroughout the process, the great folks at Healthy Paws were there for us, quickly reimbursing me for costs incurred (less than a week!). They have been extremely understanding and have responded fast with all of my questions. They even follow up to see how my boy's doing after his surgery! After my last Lab I decided to look into insurance, and Healthy Paws was very highly rated. I can see why now!!

Good Service

When I was looking for insurance for my new puppy Molly, I couldn't find a plan for both illness and wellness -- except for Embrace. Fortunately I've only needed the wellness part so far. Reimbursements are quick and can be done on line. I'm very happy.

Great response and concern for the pet

The response is prompt and only limited by vet who doesn't turn information in promptly. We have a deductible with 90% coverage for both dogs. When the insuranace company has a complete file, they have paid promptlly. We are awaiting resolution of our latest claim in the amount of $4000 which was created by a rare oral cancer on our 2 1/2 year old Golden Retreiver. By the way she is pronounced cured and we were able to go to the best oral surgeon in Northern California with no limitation.

Horrible

Horrible! We got the cat insurance for our two cats, a month later our kitten got had a seizure on the floor and was diagnosed with epilepsy. None of our veterinarian bills were covered as they called it a preexisting condition.... Even the veterinarian wrote us a letter stating why she got epilepsy, which was due to a head injury a couple of weeks earlier (she was exploring and thought she was unstoppable when jumping down from a shelf). I am sure if she was diagnosed with epilepsy in the age of 1 year they would still call it a pre existing condition or find some way to slide out from paying our bills. Horrible experience. NEVER again!!!!

Claim for New Puppy

I recieved a free trial from my vet on June 24. I registered my approx 10 week old puppy right away.I am so glad I did. On Canada day (so of course my vet is closed) I had to take her to the emergency vet because she had been up ever hour, on the hour with vomiting and diarrhea. I took her in to the vet and they had to test for parvo (luckily negative), had to xray (to see if she ate something), and had to do tests to check for infections (required full 24 hours in the animal hospital). Prior to consenting to all the procedures we called Trupanion to confirm they had my registration on file. The woman I spoke to was very empathetic and faxed a claim form directly to the vet (even though I didn't have my policy number with me). After my puppy was released with her antibiotics I started on the claim. The online chat featured on the website made it quick and easy to understand what was required of me. The claim covered 90% of all eligible costs (so everything except taxes and the exam fee in this case). Trupanion was great about sending me email updates on the status of my claim. I am thoroughly impressed and recommend this insurance for anyone signing up a healthy puppy with no pre-existing conditions. I can't speak to rescue dogs/older animals but I will definitely be signing up any other new puppies I bring into my home. It is a fantastic feeling knowing that you can put money issues to the back of your mind and just focus on getting your puppy healthy. As with all insurance,

Excellent Service

We had a sick kitty, very sick. Ate a pine needle and it almost killed him!. Had to take him to the emergency and to the vet the following day. Claims were sent to Healthy Paws and they reimbursed us right away. They held their end of the deal. I am very happy we have insurance as it would of costed us double the amount. I lived in the UK for years, they always have pet insurance, but in the US it is not so, not many have insurance. When we got our two little tykes, we debated whether to get insurance. A worker at Petco told me his cat swallowed the end of door stop. The cost to operate was 3000.00! He had insurance, their cost was a small fraction. That convinced me to get pet insurance, and it has payed off! Well worth it. Healthy Paws so far has proven to be excellent. Thank you Healthy Paws!
