Coverage for anaphylaxis deemed preventative care

Our dog was anaphylactic (swollen face, difficulty breathing) to vaccines since she was a puppy. Her vet recommended that she is given pre-treatment with her vaccines to keep her safe. She had her annual vaccines just recently Recently I was told by Trupanion that since this was a pre-treatment, it was PREVENTATIVE CARE and thus not covered. However if she suffered an allergic reaction and then we bring her in then it is a covered condition. Individuals with a known peanut allergy who take an epi-pen after peanut ingestion is not preventative care, it's treating an exposure to a known trigger. A dog with a known vaccine allergy who take medication due to expected vaccine exposure is not preventative care, it's treating an exposure to a known (and necessary) trigger. I am very disappointed in trupanion's position that she needs to suffer with potentially deadly consequences in order for something like this to be covered when she was exposed to something she is known to be allergic to! I don't think this is how a company who says that they are "dedicated to helping dogs and cats get the best care" should operate.

A Scam That Ignores Customers and Avoids Paying Claims

I am absolutely outraged by the way Fetch Pet Insurance is handling my claim. I filed a formal appeal over a week ago, yet I have received no response, no acknowledgment, and zero effort to resolve the issue. I have emailed every available contact, including the claims department and customer support, and all of my messages are being completely ignored. My veterinary bill totaled $487.37, but Fetch decided to reimburse me only $110.00—a mere fraction of what should have been covered. My policy states that eligible expenses should be reimbursed at 80% (after a 20% copay), but instead of following this structure, Fetch applied arbitrary reimbursement caps that were far below the promised percentage. They completely excluded certain charges under the excuse that they weren’t covered, even though these services were clearly part of routine and necessary veterinary care. Not a single dollar was applied toward my $400 deductible, meaning my coverage is practically useless until I pay even more out of pocket. It turns out that Fetch has hidden reimbursement limits on all wellness services, which they don’t clearly disclose upfront. For example, my pet’s comprehensive exam was only reimbursed at $30, vaccinations at $10 each, and lab tests at a fraction of their actual cost—despite my policy supposedly covering 80% of expenses after copay. Since submitting my appeal, I have received no communication whatsoever. Fetch has ignored every single email I’ve sent. This company refuses to engage with customers once they take your money and does not process appeals or respond to formal complaints. Since Fetch Pet Insurance refuses to act in good faith, I will be filing formal complaints with the State Department of Insurance, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This company is a scam, and I strongly warn every pet owner to stay away. They gladly take your premiums but will do everything in their power to avoid paying claims. If you want real coverage that actually protects your pet, look elsewhere. Fetch Pet Insurance is nothing but a fraudulent, deceptive business that preys on trusting pet owners. UPD No one from your team even bothered to contact me—everything you stated is false. You sent me a $110 check and had the audacity to deduct an additional $3 fee. I already sent an email to the designated address on February 27, and all the required documents were submitted even earlier. So please, don’t blatantly lie—the facts are not on your side. By the way, I have already prepared formal complaints for all the relevant departments, and since you have failed to respond to my official request, I will be filing them tomorrow.

The linger and decline payments for NO reason

I adopted 2 healthy 4mo kittens from a shelter and paid $750/yr to insure two kittens and added preventative care add-on option. They declined my first vet visit for “pre existing condition “ no explanation. Then they declined my 2nd visit doing routine vaccines (which should be covered under the add-on). No explanation this time. The app just says it was mailed to me but I didn’t receive anything . Also this took weeks for them to do. Really frustrating process which makes no sense. Complete waste of money and time.
