Fast and easy
Simple process; I simply fax a short form to my vet and they in turn fax needed info onto insurer. I received updates along the way to let me know where they were in the review process. Check came shortly after; no surprises. Everything as expected.

Right place at the right time
My vet was offering a 30 free trial for Trupanion and I had been shopping around for pet insurance for my dog Quincy, so I gave it a try. During the free trial, we discovered Quincy had an oral melanoma. The vet removed the tumor, and after meeting with an oncologist, Quincy had a partial mandibulectomy. Then we followed up with a round of melanoma vaccines. I am very grateful that we found Trupanion at the right time, and they did cover 90% of all her cancer treatment. My only complaint is that it took over 6 weeks to get my initial claims processed and I had almost $10k that I put on a credit card for the surgery and treatment. My credit took a major hit and I had to request an increase. But since then, they have responded to my claims within 24 hours, and the checks arrive within a week.

Had a claim for our dog at the beginning of the 30 day trial period after we adopted him. Communication was excellent and claim processing was prompt. We've already signed - up to continue our policy once the 30 days expires.

Fast, thorough, and compassionate
My dog needed emergency surgery to remove a pine cone that he had swallowed whole. My claim was processed extremely quickly; I received an acknowledgment within 24 hours, and the payment was in the mail within 48. When I had a question about why exam fees were not covered, the response was prompt and thorough, and the rep showed great compassion for my little dog and his recovery. Currently, Trupanion does not cover exam fees, and this is a drawback. I am hopeful they will re-consider this policy in the future.
