Response time was reasonable and we were satisfied with the result. The covered portion was applied to the deductible as we expected.

Stars for Trupanion
Recently my dog tore his cruciate ligament and requires surgery. We just went through this 5 months ago with his other leg. We are so upset that our boy has to go through this again. The shining star in all of this is Trupanion! In less than a week I received a deposit for the initial X-ray and exam. But best of all they have lifted the financial strain by providing an express claim for the surgery. By the end of this operation as well as the first one, Trupanion will have helped us with almost 10,000 dollars. The staff are extremely helpful and genuinely concerned about our dog. Thank God we switched pet insurance from another well known company that kept reducing our coverage and increasing our monthly payments!!!

Fast and effective
I've used VPI and Embrace with previous pets. I had great service with Embrace (not so great service with VPI!). When it came time to insure my new Boerboel puppy I was going to quickly run back to embrace, but my employer offered a reduced rate with trupanion, who I knew nothing about. Instead the reviews and decided it was worth a shot. Glad I did! Same great service as Embrace, and they cover everything at 90%! I really like the pre-authorization that guarantees coverage before I dish out the money. I remember the days on VPI when I'd have to wait 2-3 months with my fingers crossed and hope they'd at least give me back half the money. This was a revelation. Less than a week after surgery I had the money in the bank. Amazing.

Great coverage for unexpected events
This is a great coverage for unexpected cases. For a puppy in their first year I would recommend looking into maybe complementing with an insurance for planned procedure (immunizations, neutering, etc.). For unexpected events they cover 90% of the claim excluding the vet fee (so always prefer a vet over ER, since ER charges can be over 100$) that if you can of course :) Oh and they are super super fast!! You will get an email confirming the claim was approved within less than 24 hours.

I had ASPCA insurance for my last dog. After he passed we adopted another rescue and continued with the insurance. I was very impressed when I called ASPCA to change my dogs info with how truly sympathetic they were to my loss. II even received a sympathy card from them. It is also very comforting to know that if we have to make an unexpected trip to the vet that we will be reimbursed for most of what we pay. I have highly recommended ASPCA pet insurance to all people that I know that have pets. Thank you ASPCA!!
