fair and square

Our two North African mixed breed dogs and our three Tunisian very mixed breed cats accompanied us to California where we wisely signed up for ASPCA after looking at choices. Now we are left with Baby and Tiger, who like their "care-givers" (us) have become elderly, creaky and cranky. Baby was recently hospitalized for a severe eye infection, and was found to have abscessed teeth requiring removal, and several other less serious ailments. Confused by the reimbursement procedures, I was able to get advice from ASPCA by telephone and found their explanations precise & fair.

Healthy Paws is the Best Pet Insurance

We researched various companies for a long time and were reluctant to spend $$$ on pet insurance when most companies have all sorts of esoteric rules and spending caps and such. We skeptically enrolled - but Healthy Paws has delivered every single time we needed it so far. We only enrolled our Shepherd/Lab mix girl who is now 9 yrs old in January 2011. They have paid multiple claims for surgeries and biopsies that were totally unexpected very promptly and with an explanation of what is and isn't covered. The latest claim was over $3000 and it was paid! This isn't a gimmick, it really is great coverage. Their customer service is top notch and they let you know up front what is preexisting and what isn't (this is important esp in an older dog and important to find out) but anything not preexisting has been covered to the full extent that we elected (90% w/$250 deductible). I wish we had heard of Healthy Paws when our girl was a youngster! Thank you!

Dis -satified

The vet had diagnosed my dog with a cristalized mass located below his right eye that turned out to be a localized cancer,I had purchased the insurance a year ago,my claim was denied because it was determined by the insurance to be a pre existing condition, and because I did not follow up on the exam in the alloted time, it was denied, even though I had submitted the exam stating a non pre existing condition from the vet at time of injury,I am venting my anger because Embrace insurance claims to be a caring insurance only when it puts money in there pockets and not the wellfare of the clients pets,This need not be posted because I will be blogging my review at other sites

Healthy Paws Saves The Day

When my Bull Terrier, Ozzy, experienced sudden onset lameness, I rushed him to the vet to see what was wrong. It turns out he had split a toe bone in half long-ways (a slab fracture) and this sort of fracture can be very challenging to heal. Healthy Paws was right there with a reimbursement check, literally within 4 days from onset of injury. Additionally, the Healthy Paws staff were very helpful with ideas about how to best maximize Ozzy's chance of full recovery. Ozzy and I are both very grateful for their help and for the excellent vet care he is receiving.

Ivan and Addie - Best Friends!

We had a male cat name Ivan. He was about 22 lbs, gentle and generally ignored by 3 other female cats. As time passed, Ivan at 14 years, was our only cat. We did not have pet insurance at that time, and when Ivan developed diabetes we had huge bills. At about this same time, we adopted a lively, 3 month old female we named Addie Joy. We had our minds made up that we would enroll her in ASPCA Pet Insurance because we never know what the future will bring. Addie and Ivan were instant friends. He had waited so long for a friend and she loved him like an older brother. Addie kept Ivan active and he taught her not to bite or scratch. For three years they were inseparable; we marveled at the tenderness they exhibited for one another. When Ivan died, we observed an immediate change in Addie: she wasn't eating, was lethargic, cried and paced the house looking for Ivan. That was sad enough, but she was not responding to our attention or pleas to eat. We visited a vet who specializes in felines and were told about pet grief. We were grieving and so was Addie. We kept on inviting her to play and eat; in a few weeks she slowly came back to her playful and opinionated self. Without insurance, we might have ignored her symptoms, not had a check up or consultation on how cats handle loss and how to support recovery. We know that whatever happens in the future, we will do our best for her, as we had done for all our pets, but we have the assurance our budget will never cause us to think twi

So Far, Really Good!

We just got a rescue puppy and we selected Embrace as our pet insurance company. We also signed up for the Wellness plan. The response and customer service has been impeccable. The representatives are so helpful and fast. We submitted some claims under the Wellness plan and were promptly reimbursed. The other claim for a minor ailment was subtracted from our deductible. After thoroughly researching the options, we chose Embrace and we have no doubt that we made the right decision!

Trupanion saved my dogs life!

I couldn't sleep one night and decided to research on Pet Insurance co. Because I already worked for a vet, I knew of a couple of companies I DEFINITELY didn't want. I decided on Trupanion. About 3 days outside of our waiting period our Lab, Lexi, blew her right knee. Vet said she needed a TPLO and the cost was about $2,700. We contacted Trupanion and we decided to submit a pre-approval. Much to our relief it was approved and covered!! One year later, she had blown her other knee and needed surgery for it. Again, Trupanion pre-approved it. We went in on a Friday morning and before I even got home from dropping her off, my vet called to say her bloodwork came back abnormal, in fact, she seemed to be in liver failure! (Which surprised all of us as she is completely asymptomatic!) My vet consulted with a specialist and it was decided on Monday afternoon that she would need a liver biopsy and ultrasound immediatley. The following morning, Lexi and I hauled ourselves out to San Diego from Vegas and met with the specialist. After meeting with the specialist and being presented with an estimate of $4,000 I immediately called Trupanion and asked if there was anyway we could do a pre-approval in about 2 hours. My representatives were Anna and Gina, not only did they keep me up to date as it was being handled, but they truely seemed concerned about her health. So between the Specialty Hospital and Trupanion I had my pre-approval!!! I picked her up the next day, paying with Ca

By Far One of the Best Investments!!

Just last month our 9 month Pitbull puppy Cali had a scare when she somehow got ahold of some really strong glue and swallowed some of it. A week later she had stopped eating and going to the bathroom. So finally on our second visit to the vet with her they told us the next steps to figure out what was wrong - x-rays, blood work, maybe surgery - and proceeded to tell us the costs associated with these services. Our dogs and cat are family, and for family there are no limits. We would have done anything for our baby girl at that point. We wanted our puppy well again. We agreed to have x-rays done...which revealed a full tummy on a dog that hadn't eaten in almost a full week. This brought us to the inevitable surgical procedure that would allow the veterinarian to remove a softball-sized ball of this glue from Cali's stomach. But before this even took place there was the discussion of how we would pay for this costly procedure.Fortunately I had signed up both of our dogs for insurance back in May of this year and the vet's office was more than helpful in helping us fill out the insurance claim form. I must say that the little amount of money we have spent since May on the monthly premiums for our dogs ($10 for each) is nothing compared to the relief I felt when I opened my email this past Saturday (about 2 weeks after it all happened) to see that the claim was completed and even more so when I read the Explanation of Benefits document in the Member Center and found out the am

NOT a One Hit Wonder!

EMBRACE has consistently without fail or delay, resolved claims expediently, courteously, and fairly. I continue to be amazed and GRATEFUL for each claim reimbursement that we receive. Most recently my elderly dog Buddy tore his cruciate ligament with an invoice of $4694.14 less our 10% co-pay--we received a REFUND of $4,224.73. I hate to think about all the poor dogs who would have to lose their legs, or be put to sleep because their owners couldn't afford this life-saving surgery. I tell my friends that INSURANCE IS ESSENTIAL if you love your animals and worry about the financial responsibilities.I love EMBRACE.
