Lifesaver insurance

SPOT pet insurance has been a lifesaver. I have a 6 year old Miniature American Shepherd (mini Aussie in layman’s terms) and she means the world to me. I pay for SPOT’s preventative coverage as well as accident/illness coverage. They have always reimbursed me for the available vaccinations/bloodwork/annual visit covered under preventative care. On June 16th, 2025, my dog presented with bloody vomit and diarrhea. I was able to take her to her primary vet immediately, and after examination and bloodwork they suggested the emergency room. My dog was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE) and needed overnight support. The total of both the primary vet visit and the ER visit was $3800. SPOT reimbursed me 80% as promised within 4 business days of submitting a claim with itemized receipts and a description of what happened. It was an incredibly stressful situation but some of that stress was absolved by knowing SPOT had my back. I would recommend SPOT pet insurance to anyone. Just make sure you read the policy of the plan you choose to know what’s covered. I’d happily pay $65 a month for top coverage for the rest of all of my animals’ lives to have peace of mind in case of an emergency.

Very smooth process-paid exactly what it said it would cover

Very smooth process. Clear on what they do and don’t cover. I had some high bills from a couple of emergency vet visits with my cat and there were no issues or arguments on what I could claim. Would def keep using. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t insured my cat. The overall bills came to around 7000 but I only had to pay around 1500 with insurance.

Everything was super easy and fast…

Submitting my claim online was super easy and quick. Fetch was communicative the entire process. And ultimately processed my claim quickly and accurately. Super satisfied every time I need to file a claim (which hasn’t been very often in the entire time I’ve had insurance on my pet!)

Room for improvement

Two ways to improve: 1. When submitting claims online, allow the claim form to be able to filled out online. This would make submitting claims less complicated. For now, you must print out the form, fill it in by hand and then scan it to attach it to the claim. This process should be simpler. 2. The customer service department should be able to talk with the claims department about claims that go awry. I had a recent frustrating experience where the claims department erroneously sent back a claim for more information. It was not needed, as it had been submitted originally. Despite the error being made by the claims department, my claim was put back in the queue and took over three weeks to resolve. Customer service, although polite, could not contact the claims department and expedite the matter. Improve communication and allow errors to be handled in a timely manner.

Over all; good

Over all, it’s been a good experience. Except with the reimbursement process for the online pharmacy preventative process. That’s is a bit ridiculous in that the receipt wasn’t acceptable b/c the medication hasn’t been delivered YET, therefore it said “processing”. The vet doesn’t ship medication until the payment goes thru. It takes 3 days, at best, for USPS to get something to my door. I should have to wait a week before I can submit a claim just so an invoice can say delivered.
