Extremely Disappointed with MetLife’s Poor Customer Service and Claims Process
I am incredibly disappointed with MetLife’s pet insurance service, particularly their customer service and claims process. I attempted to file a claim for my cat, providing all requested documents, but their app repeatedly flagged missing information, delaying my claim without clear guidance. When I contacted customer support to clarify, I was told I needed a “benefit document” from my previous pet insurance provider. This requirement is unreasonable and poorly communicated for several reasons: I am no longer a customer of my previous insurer, making it extremely difficult to obtain such documents. MetLife never mentioned this requirement when I switched to their policy, leaving me blindsided. If MetLife were my first pet insurance provider, would I be unable to file a claim simply because I lack a prior insurer? This policy feels designed to obstruct claims. The customer service team offered no solutions, and their app is frustratingly unreliable. This experience has been the worst I’ve encountered with any insurance provider. MetLife’s lack of transparency and poor treatment of customers has left me deeply dissatisfied. I will not use any MetLife products again and strongly caution others against choosing their pet insurance.

Prudent Pet was awesome!
Prudent Pet was awesome! Our Rottweiler needed emergency surgery and was in the hospital for 4 days. I filed a claim, they had great communication every step of the way. They even contacting a Vet that was not getting back to us & got the information they needed to finish processing our claim. Within 2 weeks the claim was paid & money was direct deposited in our account. Cannot say enough about the customer service we received in such an emotional, scary time.

I signed up a week ago
I signed up a week ago, had my two cats examined the next day, and I’ve already been reimbursed in full for their exam cost. Phenomenal. I am paying for the most expensive plan with the reimbursable allowances so keep that in mind. But I was really pleasantly surprised that I was reimbursed and that it came so fast.

Unfair review period
They offer a medical history review for pre-existing conditions and refunds within thirty days of purchase. What they don't make clear is that there is no way to complete the medical review in that time frame. On day thirty two, Embrace confirmed a long list of conditions they wouldn't cover, despite my request for review immediately after signing up, and refused the refund.

Profit over Pets
My 6 year old Newfoundland required surgery which cost $4000 to repair a defect in his throat; Embrace denied the claim because he was once seen for a cough; calling laryngeal paralysis a pre existing condition. Now they want to increase my premiums in May; the anniversary of the policy.

Horrible
Horrible. They take their time to process your claim. Customer Support doesn't care or help with your claim. They clearly offer 5 to 10 days to process claims but somewhere withing your policy it says 30 days, where you can't see it. To me they offer time frame that they are not in compliance with. Submitted my claim on 4/2/2025.
