Policy lapse
I have been a client for over 18 years with multiple dogs. Today I found out that because I paid for one of my dogs policies in full, her policy actually lapsed and she didn’t have coverage for the last month. With my other dogs, their policies automatically renewed. The policy could not be reinstated and actually had to create a new policy. I am very upset by this. With that said my dog now does not have coverage and will not for at least two weeks. In addition, I submitted a bill for $191 that could’ve went to my deductible for the year, and now that doesn’t count.

Terrible process, endless delays
Terribel outcome, many delays, extra notifications each monday regarding missing documenst and proof of payment. Every time I upload a claim I called petsbest and talk with an agent making sure all documets are uploaded and STILL delays. They said that there is no way to escalate or to talk with a supervisor. I strongly regret I have my pets with another pet insurance and I thought to move them. Bad choice now I can not move them to another insurance, They need verbal confirmation about proof of payments and that is a first and I had 3 excellent insurances before and the turn around was at most a week. Only because the sad memories of the other ones I thought to have this petsbest. Phone recording is so long insisting to go to the web site.... thenwhat? Here with pest bets says that can take up to 4 days. WHY, all documenst are okai and submitted correctly. I submited a complain to them, I also got a fax from them. Also I did a review in Google and I just dont want other pets parents to go through like me with endless reviews and doubts even with a credit card statement that did niot have my name on it but the amount mach the veterinary services. The more than 30 days delays I paid in extra fees and credit card charges just because theey dont feel like doing the process better for the clients. It is deplorable, there are no supervisors that will call back either, I tried that.

Healthy Paws pet insurance…
We've had Healthy Paws pet insurance since our goldendoodle was two and through a broken leg, a lipoma that needed removing, and surgery for cancer, we've never had any issues with payment on a claim. Having reliable pet insurance has made it possible to give our dog the care we want to give him. Very very grateful.

Spot citing ridiculous and invalid pre-existing condition to deny claims.
My dog recently had an issue with an abscessed tooth, which she is still being treated for. The company has repeatedly denied insurance claims, citing a pre-existing condition, because the vet records show she had plaque on her teeth and gum disease signs in the past. The vet has confirmed these are not related and information has been repeatedly provided to Spot, yet they are still refusing to reimburse the claims. There will be other claims coming as well as she is still under treatment that I'm sure will be denied as well.

Excellent Pet Insurance
We have had an excellent experience with Healthy Paws! We got this insurance when our dog was a puppy knowing that we just wanted peace of mind in the event of a major accident or illness. In the 8+ years that we’ve been carrying this coverage we have never had a claim denied. Recently our dog underwent a surgery for a torn cruciate ligament and Healthy Paws was as reliable as ever. The claim process is a breeze (love the app!), and we received our payout quickly and seamlessly. We are grateful!

Collected my monthly fee for over a year
Update based on their reply: They claimed "In situations where there is not a ton of medical history available, at minimum we will require the notes from the enrollment exam as outlined in your policy in order to process claims." I provided medical records dating back to 2017, with the most recent being 60 days prior to enrollment. TLDR; They use every technicality they can to deny claims. They've been collecting my monthly fee for over a year and apparently I didn't provide the medical documentation they needed at time of enrollment – despite them sending be a confirmation email that they received my medical records AND the policy is active. Which means that this entire time I'm enrolled with them, nothing I ever would have submitted would get covered. Additionally, they're claiming one item as pre-existing condition, referencing the very medical records (from 2018) that they just said they can't use for our latest issue. Literally the one time my pet has ever needed coverage and during a very emotional time where he was diagnosed with a terminal condition. These companies are absolutely horrific and I'm never buying pet insurance again. Save your money and put your monthly fees in a savings account for medical issues – it will do you more than these companies ever will.

Trupanion was truly a companion with me…
Trupanion was truly a companion with me and my pet. They stuck with us through complicated surgeries (IVDD, splenectomy, parathyroid surgery) and long-term medical diagnoses (Cushing's, liver disease). I NEVER had a problem. The payments were made within a day or two. I had the money in my account long before the credit card bill came. The best thing happened after my sweet pup crossed the rainbow bridge. Three days after she passed, my vet sent me a bill. I had been going back and forth with the vet for four months. I kept telling the vet's billing department that they were supposed to contact Trupanion for payment. I told them how dismayed I was that I was still debating this and especially since I was dealing with the loss of my beloved pet. I told them that they still hadn't contacted Trupanion because I KNEW that Trupanion would have taken care of the bill if it had been submitted. I told them that since I had already cancelled my insurance, Trupanion may not pay. Shortly after the difficult conversation with the billing department that Trupanion was paying the bill from December. Not only did they pay, they honored the fact that I had met the deductible with other invoices so they paid MORE they originally told the vet they would pay. Fortunately, the vet's office stepped up and let me know that I would be receiving a refund because Trupanion honored their commitment. I recommend Trupanion to everyone. They are the best. I never had to worry about what they would cover. They never threatened to cancel my policy because of all the times that I used the insurance. As my pup aged, the cost of the insurance went up but I totally expected that. I know that what I paid was MUCH less than what I received. The biggest thing I received was piece of mind for my pet's health.
