Trupanion really worked with us when…
Trupanion really worked with us when our King Charles Cavalier became very ill in March. They were patient and understanding and truly saved us from a huge medical bill.

Exceptional customer service and delivery on promise
In May of this year our 3 1/2 year old golden doodle Bogey had to have emergency surgery to repair a blockage in his bowel (because he views the world as his buffet!) after 10 days of vet visits, hydration procedures, special foods, ultra sounds, xrays and blood work. To the cost of $11,000 Cdn. The only relief I had during this period was knowing that I had purchased Insurance through Trupanion, starting when Bogey was a puppy. Once we paid the bills and Bogey was recovering, nervousness then started to set in about Insurance coverage due to some horror stories I’d heard from friends re other pet insurance carriers. I needn’t have worried. Truly. Because this wasn’t a pre-existing condition with Bogey, his insurance covered everything as outlined in the policy purchased. Further, I placed two phone calls to them as I initially started the insurance receipt upload process through their portal and both times I received empathetic, wonderful calming advice from their reps. While I hope no one has to experience trauma with their fur family member/s, I implore you to have insurance and specifically, Trupanion coverage. The peace of mind of having the coverage may be the only bright light in the process.

User friendly and helpful pet insurance
My dog recently had a hurt leg/lameness that wouldn’t get better. Thus, I had several vet visits then xrays and meds. Thankfully Nationwide was able to help me with my vet visits during this worrisome time. Filing a claim is so easy and online access and direct deposit is user friendly.

Having Bella insured takes the fear out of Vet visits
We have our second set of dachshunds. The first (boys) lived 15 years and cost us thousands of dollars with dental care and heart care in the senior years. But we loved them and paid it. When they passed 9 days apart we decided we wanted to rescue 2 girls. They have been a blessing for the last 6 years. As soon as we rescued them we got insurance. It has been so much easier to live without fear of vet bills. We pay the premium and have some assistance from insurance. When the unexpected emergencies happen we get them to the vet and submit the claim. For us it helps prevent the big hits of being pet parents like we experience with our first set of dachshunds. We like it.

No reimbursement
Although medical records were sent for dog, none of his treatment was covered. Some was routine I agree, but some were for illness. That should have been covered.

No regrets
We have had a number of health issues with both of our dogs and Trupanion has always come through for us. Our most recent health scare was a bout of cancer. After surgery and 30 days' radiation, the total bill was over 25k. Trupanion paid 90% of it, just like they advertise. All we were responsible for was 10% of the subtotal and taxes (they never pay the taxes).

Great insurance coverage,.
I had my last dog covered under this insurance for 11 years. It was a god send at times to be able to have him covered to help me to be able to recover the cost of his vet bills. Especially when he got sick, as well as when he had to have surgery. a time or two. I now have my Pomeranian covered under the same policy.

Your time is worth nothing
Embrace goes to outrageous extremes to make sure that the claims process is convenient for their employees, by putting all of the burden on their customers. 1. When you file a claim, instead of emailing you after they have processed the claim, Embrace says "Keep an eye on your claim online by logging on to Embrace Claims Portal. We will update the portal as soon as something changes." 2. I scanned and uploaded 7 pages of documents when filing a claim. That should have been enough, but NO: Their website slowly, painfully, displays an image of each page. Then, you have to mark whether the page is a claim form or a diagnosis page. Then, you have to check a box indicating that the scan is precise and easy to read. I didn't give Embrace the lowest possible rating, because there isn't anything wrong with the actual insurance. The problem is the insensitive arrogance of a company that thinks your time is worth nothing.

I didn't think I'd be using my pet…
I didn't think I'd be using my pet insurance so soon, but wanted to have it in case of emergencies. Then my puppy developed elbow dysplasia at 5 months old. I was so thankful I had insurance and Trupanion was extremely quick in reimbursement of costs which I really appreciate.
