Excellent Customer Service
Excellent Customer Service! Very quick responses to our needs for our dog Champ! Very happy with the Policy and how Trupanion was with us every step of the way! VCA, Emergency Hospital, was excellent in sending the necessary Documents, so you could process the Claims! Thanks again Corrine Fantasia

Expensive
Expensive. What you get reimbursed for is confusing. Sometimes you get reimbursed sometimes you don’t. Even for things that state are covered under your plan.

My experience
I have had a very good experience with Trupanion. It took longer than expected for my first claim to pay but they explained that was always the case with the first. Then they paid as expected. I was told future claims would pay much faster. So far have not had any.

Strict policy review
My pup had diarrhea caused by a bacteria infection prior to policy. This led me to get insurance. Later she stopped eating and after an array of testing was diagnosed with IBD. They didn’t cover anything as they claimed it was a preexisting problem. My vet has the scientific evidence, wrote a letter explaining the different and even tried to call customer support to no avail. They also have fairly low max payout for most treatments so I never really get the full amount of the bills back.

Trupanion really worked with us when…
Trupanion really worked with us when our King Charles Cavalier became very ill in March. They were patient and understanding and truly saved us from a huge medical bill.

Exceptional customer service and delivery on promise
In May of this year our 3 1/2 year old golden doodle Bogey had to have emergency surgery to repair a blockage in his bowel (because he views the world as his buffet!) after 10 days of vet visits, hydration procedures, special foods, ultra sounds, xrays and blood work. To the cost of $11,000 Cdn. The only relief I had during this period was knowing that I had purchased Insurance through Trupanion, starting when Bogey was a puppy. Once we paid the bills and Bogey was recovering, nervousness then started to set in about Insurance coverage due to some horror stories I’d heard from friends re other pet insurance carriers. I needn’t have worried. Truly. Because this wasn’t a pre-existing condition with Bogey, his insurance covered everything as outlined in the policy purchased. Further, I placed two phone calls to them as I initially started the insurance receipt upload process through their portal and both times I received empathetic, wonderful calming advice from their reps. While I hope no one has to experience trauma with their fur family member/s, I implore you to have insurance and specifically, Trupanion coverage. The peace of mind of having the coverage may be the only bright light in the process.

User friendly and helpful pet insurance
My dog recently had a hurt leg/lameness that wouldn’t get better. Thus, I had several vet visits then xrays and meds. Thankfully Nationwide was able to help me with my vet visits during this worrisome time. Filing a claim is so easy and online access and direct deposit is user friendly.

Having Bella insured takes the fear out of Vet visits
We have our second set of dachshunds. The first (boys) lived 15 years and cost us thousands of dollars with dental care and heart care in the senior years. But we loved them and paid it. When they passed 9 days apart we decided we wanted to rescue 2 girls. They have been a blessing for the last 6 years. As soon as we rescued them we got insurance. It has been so much easier to live without fear of vet bills. We pay the premium and have some assistance from insurance. When the unexpected emergencies happen we get them to the vet and submit the claim. For us it helps prevent the big hits of being pet parents like we experience with our first set of dachshunds. We like it.

No reimbursement
Although medical records were sent for dog, none of his treatment was covered. Some was routine I agree, but some were for illness. That should have been covered.
