Really, really sorry I chose Trupanion
I was with Petplan for 8 years and loved them - until they lost their underwriter and premiums went through the roof. Sadly the two dogs covered by Petplan passed away. When I got a new dog someone recommended trying Trupanion. Worst insurance decision I have ever made. They took forever to enroll the dog, and listing everything which was not covered. They blamed the DVM. Then I made a multi-part claim for the EXACT same condition and whilst they processed the initial claim sent direct from the hospital quickly the rest took over 5 weeks (They blamed the DVM - again.) and they somehow found a way to apply 3, arguably effectively 4 deductibles to a single condition for the dog. With the claim which I filed I included a letter outlining the chronology of the claim/condition and how it all fit together. When I asked them about it I was told, "Claims doesn't read letters." Need I say more about Trupanion? My advice - never consider this company.

Good coverage, but increasing costs????????
The coverage we currently have is pretty darn good, but we just received a notice stating that the premiums are going up yet again! This time the prices are nearly doubling; so what's the deal Nationwide? There's no need for such dramatic increases; be prepared for a mass exodus!

Our AKC insurance has been wonderful
Our AKC insurance has been wonderful! The staff has helped us tremendously when we were facing an extremely difficult situation with our young Sheltie. They were helpful by giving emotional support, helping with our claim forms, and their positive attitudes.

Nationwide Pet Insurance Never Disappoints
I have been a Nationwide Client for many years (since they were Veterinary Pet Insurance). These are my second and third pets insured and I have always found the customer service to be great and payment of claims to be quick, efficient and fair. I will always insure my pets with Nationwide and I recommend your company when adopting out rescue kittens to know pet parents!

Great Insurance
We purchased pet insurance in case of large medical expenses (surgery/chemo/etc.). Fortunately, Charlie has not needed any major treatments, but unfortunately, he has required several tests that were not surgery-level expensive, but still expensive. The insurance helped a lot and made these less stressful. We are grateful to have the coverage and for Nationwide's excellent customer service.

A little disappointed
My experience with Nationwide has overall been very positive. My criticism largely is due to the surprise I encountered when my first large bill was rejected. I can clearly see the policy exclusions, but think Nationwide should use their “Reach” to educate their insureds on things to watch out for so they can avoid these situations. My dog had what I felt was a significant bloody stool, so I promptly brought her to our vet for treatment. Little did I know the peace of mind I had walking in “thinking I had major medical” didn’t exist. A flyer/reminder from the company might have helped. The call to the vet line offered little satisfaction since they are unfamiliar with the policy coverage.
