Happy to have Healthy Paws on our side when we needed them
I'm lucky to have a happy, healthy, and very active young dog. With endless energy, it's easy to think he's invincible but injuries can happen to anyone and often out-of-the-blue. When he got hurt, having to deal with doctors and tests and surgery was quite a process. I've been a Healthy Paws customer for a few years now and appreciate how easy they made the claims process. It was easy to upload documents and they processed my claim remarkably quickly. Healthy Paws made sure I was able to focus on helping my dog get better and not have to worry about medical bills. I would recommend them to any pet owner. Like all insurance you hope you'll never need it but the peace of mind alone makes it entirely worthwhile.

Buyer beware
I purchased pet insurance 12/9/2013 for i think it was around $33 a month , Healthy Paws Web site says under Frequently Asked Questions # 6 ( Will my premiums increase?Due to the increasing cost of new technology and advances in veterinary and specialty care, your rates will increase SLIGHTLY to align with the claim payouts of each state). I am currently paying $55.03 New Monthly Premium $74.84 starting (12/09/19),, How is this a slight increase as advertised on their web site? My pet had to have surgery earlier this year now they increase my premium just this year alone 35% in a year!!!!!!!!!!! Overall increase of 125% in 6 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trustworthy
I enrolled my little girl with Nationwide Insurance (it was under a different name at the time) the week after purchasing her. Nationwide has NEVER hassled me over a claim and has always paid on claims per their stated policy coverages. I have been extremely grateful and pleased with Nationwide's pet insurance.

Claim Denial
We have a 9 month old Frenchie. Knowing they do come with health issues we shopped for pet insurance. When we spoke with Trupanion, on multiple occasions, we specifically asked about "palette" surgery. Each time we were told it would be covered because its a known health condition for French Bulldogs. 9 months later, we learned that our Frenchie needs the surgery. We submitted a claim and were quickly told it would not be covered. The reason for the denial was that it was a "pre-existing" condition. They advised that during our puppy visit with our vet records showed that he would likely, at some point, need that surgery. Due to that puppy visit, Trupanion classified it as a pre-existing condition. Trupanion also failed to tell us that we would have to pay a $700 deductible with EVERY illness and that there is a 30day waiting period. Our Frenchie also has been rushed to an emergency vet with pneumonia which they didn't cover much of. Trupanion is a typical insurance company, build on lies and unethical policies.

Claim went smoothly after the company misplaced the invoice that was attached to the claim.
Excellent customer service. The invoice attached to the claim was misplaced, but once we got things straightened out, service was excellent!

No muss no fuss no bother. All claims processed efficiently and paid very timely and without any hassle. Highly recommended.
"Hoagie" has a lot of issues the vets have told us but because we have Nationwide Pet Insurance we are able to provide him the best of care that exists in veterinary medicine today. We highly recommend Nationwide for every pet owner. They have never questioned any of Hoagie's claims and have processed them efficiently and paid them promptly. One of the best decisions we have ever made.
