Nationwide saved my dogs life

Nationwide has been fantastic. My dog needed exploratory surgery for a possible obstruction and my Nationwide coverage gave me the confidence to make the decision to go for it. A very good thing I did, because his intestine had already ruptured and had we waited any longer he would have died. Thank you for your hassle-free claim approval. You have earned a customer for life.

Unfortunately there is not a 0 star…

Unfortunately there is not a 0 star rating. This company is sneaky and deceptive. Stay clear! When they say preexisting conditions they mean if your pet has ever been to a vet before signing up with them for any reason, they will deny any claim and claim! - pre existing condition. When you call and try and get some kind of explanation for their ridiculous policy they will say industry standard sorry we are working on this. I spent hundreds of dollars in fees and was able to claim 0 that is right absolutely nothing, zip! After being with the same vet for almost 20 years I will be leaving because they have partnered with Trupanion. Apparently both more worried about making money and lining their pockets then helping people or animals. Shameful business practice. Find another insurance company.

Waste of money

I purchased a standard VPI insurance for my dog when she was a puppy, and the coverage was pretty good (I would get back 50-60% of my claim amount, which was great). When they became Nationwide, coverage became terrible. I recently submitted a $1500 claim for my now 11 year old dog to have a cancerous tumor removed from her leg and got only $273 back! Routine care like exams and vaccines has a similar return rate. I had the CareGuard Core, so not the most expensive plan, but not the cheapest either. Completely useless waste of money - I'll just be putting the money into savings in the future and it will be a better deal.

Every pet owner should have Nationwide on their side

Nationwide has consistently taken away much of the stress associated with our dog's injuries and surgeries. Our 6 year old English Staff has unfortunately had 3 major surgeries. These are gutwrenching and the surgery and recovery takes a toll on our whole family. But knowing we have Nationwide pet insurance takes a huge stress off our shoulders. I recommend Nationwide loudly and proudly to every dog owner in our circle.

Don't think twice - go with these guys

I love healthy paws - submitting claims is impossibly easy, they're on it, and they have really come through for me. My senior doxie has had health many health issues this year and Healthy Paws insurance saved me. I elected for the 80% coverage for both my doxies and it has more than paid for itself... they give a discount if more than 1 pet is covered. So very satisfied!

Claims Process Sucks

Really poor instructions and communications around the claims process and information needed, especially when it comes to provision of medical records. It took me several weeks and multiple calls to get my initial claim processed correctly.

Easy claims submission and good coverage

Our dog got attacked by another dog and had severe injuries that required surgery and rehab. Filing claims with Nationwide has been simple because we can just upload receipts and treatment notes to an email and submit electronically. Also, we've been pleased by how much has been covered - ER visit, surgery, rehab, meds - such a help because it adds. up. We are grateful to have this coverage.

efficient and friendly

All of my questions and concerned are answered by friendly and knowledgable people. The claims process could not be easier with the app. Take pictures of my recipients/documentation, submit, then accept payment. A few business days later the money transferred to my bank account.

Money

I don’t have any complaints with my actual service. They have been very good to me for the most part but I will say I have a lot of friends that have purchased dogs lately and when I suggested nationwide I was absolutely horrified when I saw what the premium was. For a puppy my friend was quoted 193. That’s outrageous. I was just told my own policy is going up almost $30 that is a huge champ and I’m currently looking for other insurances. Geico is very reasonable and healthy paws also. There are way more places offering insurance now to be price gauging like that
