Beware of trupanion
Beware of trupanion! In 2009, I decided to get this insurance for my 2 month old puppy that I had adopted. I paid $31/month with $1000 deductible for "lifetime" of coverage. Sound good on paper, but I am now finding out that this insurance is useless and it is the worst insurance out there. In Sept 2019, my now 10 year old dog had a surgery to remove a lump on his paw, neck, and stomach area that cost $811. I also filed a claim for his eye and skin allergy bills worth $450. I thought I had met the $1000 deductible right?, NO! they categorized the lumps into two different lumps meaning my deductible was $2K and another $1K deductible for the eye/skin allergy. So for a $1261 claim, I had a $3k deductible in total. I was disappointed to say the least. To make matters worst, a week ago I received an email that they are increasing my monthly fee from $31 to $38. I asked why and I was told that it was based of their data report. BS! this insurance is a SCAM! After 10 years of having this insurance, I have yet to see a penny from them and now they want more money? Trupanion does not care about my pet. Now that my dog is old, we're being treated like garbage! shame on you Trupanion!

Happy for 10 years until now
My dogs condition is melanoma. There is a deductible for each condition. The vet removed 13 suspicious small skin bumps and spots to check for additional melanoma after he was already diagnosed with a lump on his neck.. The results of those additional spots were one benign melanoma and others that were just cells. Trupanion is charging me 3 deductibles....1 for melenoma, 1 for benign melanoma and one for the cells that were nothing. Unbelievable! So if your animal has cancer and they remove any suspicious masses that are not cancer, you will be charged deductibles for multiple conditions. Beware!

Didn't worry during illness
Nationwide really was on our side during our dog's near death illness. It was a huge relief and comfort to have her claims processed super quickly, but we received most of the expenses back. I'm super impressed.

Your pet insurance has been wonderful for our Daisy!
Daisy was very sick for nearly two months. But, she is now back to her old self and feeling much better. Nationwide Pet Insurance paid 95% of her vet visits and we are very grateful for the help. She isn't just a dog, she is a member of our family and we appreciate your concern for her well being.

I have two puppies. One puppy is mischievous and always in to everything. We have had to go to the veterinarian multiple times. When I submitted the bills to the insurance company, they kept me informed of the process and were prompt paying the bills.

Compassion
When all was said and done, I had to let my beloved cat go. I eventually submitted the vet bills. Once everything was processed, I was going to make the sad call to cancel the insurance. When I received the statement for the last charge, Pets Best acknowledged the passing of my pet. I was also informed that they had cancelled the policy. I appreciated this so much. Compassion is part of their service and eased a little of my journey through grief. When the time comes to open my heart and home to another pet, I'll use Pets Best again.
