Awesome insurance company
My dogs and myself thank you for your generosity in how you process claims. I shutter to think about the outcome if you were not by my side. I’ve have had many claims this year. Overall it has been an overall bad year. Thank you for your help Ps I have highly recommended you to everyone with a pet ❤️

0/10 - not good.
If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Our 1 year old pup has had to have 2 total hip replacement surgeries and now a knee surgery all by a phenomenal specalist from Blue Pearl (5 stars for them). AKC did not and will not cover any of those ($20,000 when its all said and done) even though we have the premium package and our fur babies are AKC Good Citizen Certified. They lead you on into thinking you are fully covered but then fill you in on a 30-180 day waiting period, hidden fees, etc. After the poor customer service displayed by the AKC staff, we ended up canceling our coverage and they offered a $50 reimbursement which yes was appreciated, but at the end of the day, not enough. We would do any and everything for our dogs but unfortunately I can't say the same about AKC. Save your money and find a different pet insurance company. Just sad.

very fair and understands your concerns
I recently rescued and had no knowledge of her medical condition. My vet and I had to start from scratch on her health. I wanted to have her check out completely meaning all test blood uti all of it. Nationwide wanted her health records a year back I did not have them and told them that. It took awhile but they finally realized that I had none and that and realize what they had was all they had to work with. I was concern that they would not cover her because of that, but they finally came through and did pay some claims.

Truly a life saver
I've had my miniature dachshund since he was 6 weeks old. As soon as he was eligible (I think he was 3 months), I decided to insure him. After researching all the available companies, I went with Trupanion. The very first claim I filed was when he was 4 years old. I'm not going to lie, the experience with the first claim was horrible. I believe it was because I had moved and did not have his actual medical records and was not able to obtain them from the now out of state veterinarians. In 2018, I decided I was just going to cancel (mainly based on the first claim experience). I am so grateful to the representative that assured me that all claims for his IVDD would be approved. He just underwent spinal surgery today and if I did not have Trupanion, I would not have been able to afford his surgery. Trupanion truly saved my dog's life.
