Best Decision

I was having second thoughts on whether insurance would be taken for our Coco and with which company? But this had been one of our best decisions yet. Thanks Nationwide!

All on-line form makes submitting a claim EVEN easier!

It was always easy to submit a claim--create a pre-filled form on-line, then fax it and the vet's receipt. But now it is EVEN easier to get your payment. Fill out the entire thing on-line, take a picture of the receipt, then all done! And your check comes FAST!

Surprisingly easy and efficient

My dog had an unexpected injury on her foot, and subsequently, a rather significant vet bill. This was my first experience with submitting a claim to Nationwide, and was not very optimistic that our charges would be covered. Much to my surprise, just two days after submitting our claim, we received a response that minus our deductible, ALL of the rest of the bill would be covered! The reimbursement check arrived shortly thereafter! What a relief!

great to have but...

It's expensive if I'm being honest. I have 3 dogs and all are insured. The multiple dog discount is a joke considering the net amount that I pay. And then you have to reach the deductable to receive any money back. And let me say that to meet the deductable you are only credited 90% of each vet bill- so it takes a lot longer to reach then you would think. Overall, Im not sure its worth the benefit of the insurance when I do the math. From an experience perspective, the online form doesn't allow you to write in any comments to the reason for the visit. Which I think is an over sight. The mail in forms were a little better there. It takes about a month to get a check back and if they question something you don't find out until the letter comes which can be over a month from the date that you submitted and then you need to chase down the "why" from your vet and re-submit. Waiting yet another month to receive the money if they approve the why. I find this frustrating. They should email you with the question and have better communication with you. it would speed things up. I do try to make sure my vet gives reason for everything, but I have missed things too. I get that they question things, just frustrated to the length of time and needing to float the vet expense longer. so IDK, I'm on the fence. It's really expensive and it's a lot of work to fill out the paper work- especially if your at the vet every month like I am. I do have some peace of mind that if something horrible happened I can make the choice on what to do that is not driven by finances 100%. But it's really expensive and a lot of work.
