Trupanion truly has my Pets best interest in mind.
Trupanion truly has my Pets best interest in mind. I always have this comfortable feeling, that my dog '?Pipers'? bill will be approved. Honesty & Integrity both from myself as an owner and the same goes for my pets' insurance company, makes Trupanion a class Act in Pet Insurance. I recommend Trupanion to pet parents' who truly care about their own '?Trupanion'?. This is a testament from a legitimate happy owner, my dog is 14 yrs old now and I will never want to make difficult financial decisions that compromises my pets' health.

The experience itself is wonderful--my vet submits the invoice to Trupanion while I wait, and no more (usually) than 5 minutes later, the vet is reimbursed. I then only have to pay my 10% share. So easy and less hassle than paying the bill, submitting the claim, and waiting to be reimbursed. The only reason I didn't rate the experience a 10 is that not everyone wants to pay a monthly premium, and we do spend a fair amount annually on those. But for recurring skin and allergy issues, it's been more than worthwhile.

I just realized that there are dozens (or more) deductibles - a different $1000 deductible for EVERY condition a dog might have!! Since our dog was 7 when we rescued him, it will be difficult for him to accumulate that many vet bills in his remaining lifetime. If anyone ever asks me what I think of Trupanion, I will explain this very clearly. Your contract covers this, I'm sure, but I was not aware of it until we'd had the coverage for 3 years. Also, I would have waited 30 days after purchasing Trupanion before taking him for a vet checkup (even though he was a rescue) because now, for the rest of his life, he will never be covered for anything related to allergies or itching - simply because I asked the vet to check this out when we first got him - and it is listed as a pre-existing condition. Also, when he did have an expensive illness last year ($6000), we had to fight like crazy to get Trupanion to cover any of it, simply because he had had diarrhea before in his life (before we purchased the Trupanion policy). Diarrhea is too common and too general to be considered a "pre-existing condition." That said, the service folks are unerringly friendly, reassuring, knowledgeable and polite. The response time has been excellent for our claims. Everything is clearly automated to the nth degree, but I always feel there is a caring human being available to answer questions.

I have only had this insurance for a short time and feel it's a bit expensive. However, it beats the potential tens if thousands I would pay in vet fees if something happened to my dog. Serena was very helpful and really seemed to know the product well when I asked questions.
