Great service

This is the first time I have had pet insurance. I didn't think it would be worth the money. Wow, was I wrong! It started the day we brought our bulldog puppy home. In her first year we have been reimbursed more than the cost of the insurance. She needed knee surgery and it was covered with no issues. I submit claims. I have the money within a week. It's in my account within a week of submitting a claim! The service has far exceeded my expectations.

Pretty Easy process

Overall the process was VERY easy. The ability to upload the bill was easy, follow up on the website was not easy to see where the review was at, the claims page just noted "under review". The only issue I had was where the payment was sent. I had two different vet bills and I did ask that payment be sent to the vet's directly. Whoever cut the check sent the entire claim about to 1 of the clinics. When a customer care rep called to check in, even she could not tell me where and what about was being sent. This has delayed the process as the check now has to be re-issued to me to properly distribute the funds. However, overall the process was easy and when I do talk to someone they are very caring.

Life saver

My dog, Ranger, had to have close to a $5k Surgery this October. As a recent college graduate, there was no way I could’ve afforded that surgery on my own! Thank goodness for Nationwide Pet insurance!! I received 90% reimbursement nearly 2 days after I submitted the claim. WOW!

One of the best things I've ever done is sign up for pet insurance with Nationwide.

I never thought I would be one to have pet insurance but I'm so glad I signed up and I would never not have it now. Nationwide makes the claim process easy. Every time I've had to talk to someone on the phone they have been so pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend Nationwide to anyone with pets.

Pre-existing condition policy is ridiculous

I got pet insurance thinking it would benefit my animal in the instance it got sick, for shots, etc....the first claim I made my dog was sick and had diarrhea and was throwing up. They did everything they could to insure they did not pay out the claim and kept telling me it was a pre-existing condition all because the vet put into their system a false note saying my dog had this condition his entire life basically. In trying to correct it and sending my pets history to them, they sent me another letter talking about something entirely different such as his teeth condition being the cause and mentioning how that is also not covered and is pre-existing. When you pay for the best coverage every month, and I take my dog in for having symptoms, just like a human (we can all suddenly get sick) and they refuse to cover me is ridiculous. I cancelled my policy completely. I am not paying out $60 per month to fight with getting claims paid and for them to consistently come at me with pre-existing explanations. I can put that money aside every month in my own account and use that to pay for his needs. I feel like I have wasted my money.
