A COMPLETE RIP-OFF

A COMPLETE RIP-OFF! I would think twice before giving this company even a penny because they do not honor and follow their own policies and will lie to make sure they don't have to cover a claim. My dog injured her ear a little over a week after we enrolled in Trupanion. We kennelled her and came home after going out for a bit. When we came back she had (what we learned) a hematoma forming under her ear. It got worse over the next couple of days because she began scratching at it because it was obviously bothering her. We took her to the vet and learned it was a hematoma from hitting her ear on the kennel wire. She was thoroughly checked for any underlying causes like an infection or something else, and the doctor found nothing. The dr even noted in the medical record that there was no sign of infection or other underlying causes besides the trauma. Trupanion denied our claim based on their 30-day illness waiting Period stating that a hematoma can be caused by an underlying ear infection. They never called, they never spoke to the vet before denying the claim. Mind you, they also have a 5-day injury waiting period. And my dog's ear injury was caused by trauma. NOT an illness. We appealed the claim because the ear hematoma was caused by trauma and not an illness. The vet we took her to called Trupanion and explained that there was no underlying illness and that the ear hematoma was caused by trauma. And after waiting and waiting to learn if the claim would now be honored...I received an email informing me that they would still not cover the claim and they were still holding to the explanation that it was during the illness waiting period. In my opinion, Trupanion operates under deceitful business practices and do not honor their own policies. Don't have an injury waiting period and an illness waiting period that are different if you are going to have to lie when a claim is received so you don't have to cover it. And then when I called Trupanion to cancel because I refuse to give a dishonorable company my business. Christine answers and can't do anything because she's not licensed in Utah. So she somehow works in a call center that not 1 person is licensed in Utah and she will have to open a file and have someone call me in a few days. I wish I had never trusted Trupanion. You can bet they collected their money every month, but that is where their service ends.

We are so glad that we chose Healthy Paws as our pet insurance.

We were glad that our policy covered our dog’s cataract surgery. Our pet is doing great. He is 10 years old but acts like 2. Submitting a claim is so very easy and convenient. We are so very happy we chose Healthy Paws. We never had pet insurance before for any of our other pets. This was a good choice for us.

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANY REASON

I have been waiting 5 months for my first claim to go thru. Claim was filed October 24th, 2019. My vet has sent over my cats file several times and they state they have not received it. Now I’m being told it will be another 30-45 days. I’m absolutely disgusted with this company and will never recommend to anyone else.

Worst customer service and claims processing.

When I sent an email in asking why my 2 claims from a month ago were still not processed I got no response.I called and was told that they have been expanding their company and were trying to get everyone up to speed..I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she didn't have one.I MEAN REALLY.......I called back and did finally get a supervisor who basically told me the same thing and could not tell me when claim would be processed.I will be canceling this policy and looking elsewhere .They really need to change the name from Best Pet to Worst Pet .....

Horrible

Not a recommend from me. Got insurance at 2 years age. Paid 40month after few years I now pay 90$ month with 700 deductible. Not once have I put in a claim. Never.. Horrible not worth it. Over what I paid per month for Nothing I would of put away 6000 already but trupanion has now..

Efficient, easy

ASPCA insurance was great. The entire claim process took only 5 days from submission until I was reimbursed. I didn’t have to talk to anyone, it was all done online. Someone even called 2 weeks later to make sure my dog was okay.

I wish I signed up with Healthy Paws first!

I wrote a review yesterday but I never mentioned what insurance company I started with. After rescuing a puppy I immediately got insurance and picked Nationwide. I never looked into any other companies I just thought it was a company that everyone knows and they would be the best . I remembered the saying " Nationwide is on your side" so how could I go wrong. They were a known name so I felt comfortable with this company. At 7 months my puppy needed hip surgery which was so devastating to us at any age but especially a 7 month old puppy. Needless to say Nationwide made everything harder. They wouldn't cover anything until I was with the company for a year and they were very difficult with everything. They kept needing mire stuff from the vet and myself only to deny something that should have been covered if you're with the right insurance company. When I spoke with them after I paid for 2 surgeries myself I wanted to switch to the top policy Nationwide had to offer. However they would not allow me to because my dog had surgery at 7 months so basically they wouldn't let me pay for the top policy. I felt like I was being punished for my puppy needing surgery. I was so heart broken going through this with my puppy and so frustrated with this insurance company. I called Healthy Paws and they were so wonderful and caring. They made this process of getting insurance easy and paid for the next 2 surgeries after receiving the claims with no questions asked. I just wish I would have gone with Healthy paws from the beginning. Not only do they pay you fast after receiving your claim but they ckeck up on your animal afterwards to see how she's doing. Needless to say Nationwide is not on your side but Healthy Paws is for sure!! I hope I never need to submit another claim but if I do I know Healthy Paws will be there for us. Best company ever!
