My Harlequin Great Dane …

My Harlequin Great Dane Had liver cancer. She was only 3 and 10 mos. when it was discovered. She did not make it to her 4th birthday. ASPCA Health Ins. covered all her vet bills quickly and completely as I had selected in her coverage. Losing a young beautiful dog was difficult, but their handling of my claims did help with m coping with my loss.

I wouldn’t recommend

Going to the vet the day after getting insurance shouldn’t be considered a pre-existing condition. I got the insurance 12/29/19 and went to the vet on 12/30/19 and she got a prescription because she threw up in the car once. Obviously I want to do what’s best for my dog but I had no idea that I’d never be able to get that covered by accepting that prescription as motion sickness would forever be a “pre-existing condition” I almost wish I hadn’t brought it up at the vet as we’ve never used the prescription and now I’ll never be able to get it covered even though my coverage was “active” the day I took her to the vet. But because it was within the 14 day waiting period, she can now NEVER have Cerenia covered her entire life. I get not covering it, it was within the waiting period, but it will never be covered her entire life. We can hope she grows out of it but that’s just an absurd policy. I’ve cancelled my pet insurance and will get some elsewhere. The person on the phone said there was nothing I could do and didn’t care I was cancelling. They should at least teach their employees to have some empathy and understand that it’s an unfortunate situation. After cancelling, then someone else from the company started responding to my chat texts (which I couldn’t initially get through because I received a message that they were closed even though it was during their business hours so I then called to talk to someone instead) and she wasn’t caught up on the case at all. Such poor communication all the way around and honestly a ridiculous policy. I was given the prescription for something after I had purchased the insurance, it was just during the “waiting period” which I thought was for accidents or illnesses. I didn’t realize prescriptions were part of that as she isn’t officially diagnosed with anything, we were just being preventative for the future. It’s been two months, which is approx the time it takes to get your claim processed, and I’ve never even used the prescription. I’m aware this will be a pre-existing condition for any pet insurance company I move to, but I’d rather be with any other company after this poor experience. The easiest part of this was cancelling the plan, they didn’t care and sent the email ASAP.

We were off to a rocky start with this…

We were off to a rocky start with this company initially, but it's been worth it all the way. I had a scare with my dog when she got a sprain and immediately bought pet insurance--so glad I did! ASPCA even covers dental care and preventative care. I wish I'd signed up sooner because it has more than paid for itself already!

Trupanion is amazing

Trupanion is amazing! We have been dealing with a very aggressive cancer diagnosis for almost a year. So many bills and Trupanion has never wavered. I wish my healthcare provider was as good.

Healthy paws is an absolute necessity for pet parents

I cannot say enough wonderful things about healthy paws. They ALWAYS pay every cent my pups policy is entitled to. I will NEVEr have another pet without immediately getting them a policy through healthy paws.

Great reimbursement procedure.......

Thank you about asking about Ollie. He has recovered and doing very well. He is a English (purebred) Golden Retriever. He is just like an American Golden, their temperament, same bushy tails and fluffy behinds, same floppy ears, black colored lips, hairy spikes behind their front legs, and attitude towards humans. They are great with children. Only difference is the color of their coat. Purebred English Golden Retrievers are platinum in color, like our Ollie. He is more than a family pet, he is a loved family member. We bought him as a pup in 2010, from a kennel, just southeast of Paso Robles, (central) CA
