Customer Last, Profit First
I am a longtime Trupanion Policy holder for a Labrador and since he was a pup. I am very disappointed with the customer service. The rates have gone up extremely every year, and Trupanion makes changes to the policies without proper notification. And the customer service is poor. If there is an issue, the customer comes last. Trupanion is another greedy, profit motivated corporation that puts its policy holders last. Save your own money monthly, instead being held hostage by companies like Trupanion who will rip you off overtime. * There is no option to respond to Trupanion. However, I talked to a Trupanion customer service rep and supervisor and my grievance regarding a policy change and misinformation from a customer service rep fell on death ears.... as a long time policy holder, I found this disregard a betrayal of my loyalty... beware

Insurance helps a lot when you actually need it.
If you upload the proper paperwork then the review is relatively quick and you receive your reimbursement. I received mine without having to upload additional documents. After losing a pet you don't need the additional hassle of many questions asked. And Prudent pet asked me no further questions.

Best Insurance for my Fur Babies
I can't say enough about how great Pets Best is! Having 3 medium/large sibling that loves to run and play. Accidents are prone to happen, and sure enough. Knowing that I have insurance for all 3, truly puts my mind at ease. In fact, I upgraded and included the wellness policy. The best decision I ever made was to adopt my 3 fur babies, 2nd best decision was to get Pets Best insurance for my babies. I've done my homework before making a decision on a company, and by far Pets Best offers the best deal! Reimbursement may at times be delayed, but knowing that I'll be getting it I don't worry. You can email updates and you can even check online.

Without hesitation and delay trupanion…
Without hesitation and delay trupanion saved my Frenchie's back. My pup had a slipped disc that required CT scan and surgery that was thousands of dollars which I ended up paying a fraction of which helped during these hard times...Thank you so much!!! I highly recommend!!!

Long processing time, but good overall
I experienced over a month in processing my claim, but when it was processed I found the explanation of benefits to be helpful and consistent with my expectations.

Again, Trupanion came through!
Back in February, I had to take my pup to the ER Hospital, where she spent two days. I met my deductible for that condition during that stay and Trupanion paid the 90% over the deductible. Fast forward to last week. She comes down with the same problem. I get her into the vet, where she stays for two days. I submitted the claim on Sunday afternoon. On Wednesday morning they notified me that they were done with their review. Since I had met my deductible in February, they were covering 90% of the claim (minus exam). It is now Thursday morning and that money is scheduled to be deposited to my checking account tonight. I forgot to mention, in June I moved to a different state and my monthly premium was lowered by $8.00!! Given the February stay, they could have kept the premium the same or raised it, but they dd not. Very pleased with Trupanion.

Predatory practices (>100% sudden rate hikes); Misleading stats ("95% of claims approved" can mean $1 of $5000 paid out)
I ensured two older dogs in 2017 at a rate of $65/mo for both dogs. It then annually went up to $78, $105, and then $280/mo by 2020. So they more than QUADRUPLED the cost in just 3 years. They sent an apology email when they did the >100% rate hike in 2020 but an apology does nothing. They get you in the door, get you invested when the dogs do not have a bunch of preexisting conditions, take your money for several years, and then hold you hostage at exorbitant ransom until you eventually need to then go off insurance forever and forfeit your investment to them. Also, they cook their books. Every single claim gets "approved," and then you open the "approved" explaination of benefits to find that they approved like $40 of a $3900 bill. One of my dogs received surgery to remove a suspected malignant tumor, but since it came out benign they rejected all expenses (well, they approved a fraction, of course). They explained that if it were malignant they'd have paid it, but since it was benign they declared that the whole thing must be "dental". So despite that the charges were all towards a covered diagnosis of suspected malignancy (a CT scan, resection of a mass by an oncologist, a biopsy... all conducted in a facility that does not even employ a dental surgeon or anything general practice), since it was benign I'm 100% on the hook. They claim they do not interfere with medical advice and they claim they give you peace of mind when making decisions but when you are half crossing your fingers for a malignant tumor so that your diagnostic tests will be covered that is bad.

Don't bother
Do not bother. Horrible company Trupanion in bad faith denied my dog's MRI stating that it was possibly preexisting when he had never been diagnosed or treated for a disk issue. A board certified veterinarian specifically stated this was a new issue but because my dog was being treated for a blood clot they used that as an excuse not to pay. They are not honest and will deny claims as much as possible. The people that make decisions have no medical background and speaking to them is like speaking to a brick wall because they do not understand medical issues. I would have been better off saving the premium every month.
